avenger was not the easiest window....just about the same as the 2 door stratus or sebring in the newer ones.
I had fights with them until I switched to the lulu ATR film....now I can slam them. Well, the good news is that you probably won't see another 91 avenger....... There cannot be that many out there that still actually run.....

what type of film was used?
Gila
QUOTE (TINT @ Oct 7 2006, 10:43 PM) [*]438831[/*] what type of film was used? Silhouette/mdog's soap method
Master that rear window using a 3 or 5 year film and the experience is priceless. Then make some real cake doing Vets & NSX'S. Save the metal films for the sunroofs, Trying to bend metal films on windows like this one, is for tinters who only work a car a day.
lorenzo, that window is easy with the Llumar ATR hybrid film. I would not personally use a non-metal film. I have only ran into 1 time in 8 years that I needed anything else for a guy that actually listened to AM radio and had an Impala, antenna in rear glass, and I simply cut the film at the frit lines and solved the problem.
The dodge family of cars has some nasty curves, but the ATR will lay just fine as many other films will too..... Oh yeah and I tint 3 to 5 cars per day on average..... QUOTE (lilDetails @ Oct 8 2006, 09:57 PM) [*]438960[/*] I would not personally use a non-metal film. You dont have an issues with keyless not working, gps, reception, or anything of that nature?
I stated the only problem I have had......never had anyone talk about a problem with keyless and I have never had it effect my 8 or so vehicles that I have had....even had full metal film on all the windows of my 88 S10 blazer including the windshield and I had no door handles....just a keyless to pop them open....worked great. I had a bit of an issue with my garage door opener because of the w/s tint....
I personally have not had to do many higher end cars with gps, but I have done a few....are the antennas inside the vehicle? if so then they should have problems with just the metal of the vehicle. So...that is my take on it....
Lorenzo, You need to be able to shrink a hybrid! Not the films fault, its very easy to work with. lildetails, this is not an easy rear, regardless of film type. Just hopin some one would have advice on how to get around those nasty compound curves.
Retro, I was having fits doing the dodge and chrysler back windows when using the Sungard Slate film. I switched a few months ago to Llumar ATR and I am getting them easy now. The top edges are a bit of a bear, but I have done 5 or 6 at least now and it has worked well enough.
Are you "pulling" the top of the film when you are shrinking? Are you using 1 or 2 heat guns? Both will help shrink a film better. ATR LuLu has evolved into a more workable film, from what I was told by the rep this product has less metal content than many years ago.ATR has been around for long long ....time. The last couple of years metalized films have been getting slammed in the high end auto forums for obvious reasons, so the buzz is color stable or ceramic films.
I just two pc those buggers. Since the dot matrix is so spread out I wet sand it. After it's dried a bit, press the seam with a 'Lil Chizler' and hit it with a black grease pen. Oh and I totally must use non metallic films as about 80% of my biz is high end lines like MBZ, BMW and Lexus.

Are you "pulling" the top of the film when you are shrinking? Are you using 1 or 2 heat guns? Both will help shrink a film better. Not pulling and one gun. Zolar , you are on it but have'nt had time to figure the pic thing out. Discription: regardless of make, most problem windows have either (what I call an insy or an outy) Insy would be an old T-Bird. Bottom has that inside curve that you must stretch. Outy has that outside curve like a baseball. On this vehicle all four corners have the baseball. Obviously, there must not be very many of these on the road. With that said, what is solution for those outside compound curves? I would like to think that switching film is a cop out.
leaving the film long on the top and you "pull" the top of the film up and keep it off the glass. This also keeps the film from laying down on the glass. On the bottom of these windows I use 2 heat guns but I do this a bit different than I have heard or seen before. I blow heat under the film with one gun and hit the outside with the other. This allows the film to shrink more even and I have had some fantastic results by doing this.
Also by pulling the tops you can stretch most films a bit while you heat it up. If these don't do it then it may be a different film would work....head tech from Llumar asked me if I had considered vinyl on the dots as that would take out the worst of the top on these Dodge backs. Anyway....
how do yoou hold both guns???
People that use two heatguns usually tape them together.
I have never had a problem with getting the avenger in one piece. The top corners are where the film needs some work. The best way is to leave the film long on the top and pull while your heating it. As far as the avenger being like the new status 2 door or a bug it's not even close. The avenger is alot easier to heat shrink.
it was said this is a 2001 which isn't an avenger it is a stratus......
I understand that the "normal" 2 heat gun use is together in one, but I had a thought a year ago and tried this with one under and one on top.....makes the film melt like butter! It holds the film off of the window and also makes the heat transfer through the film better.... I have not seen anyone else do it but it works so well....try it you might like it.
Ah jeez I must have missread the title of the post.
OH shiz wait a minute NO I DIDN'T
yes the post says Dodge Avenger, but it was asked what year and it was a 2001....that makes it a Stratus as they changed the name for the 2001 model year!
