I like the idea of sharing trade secrets here ... just wasn't sure if that one was covered.

I've been doing this for yrs and NEVER have burned the fabric ..it's just using your head when using your heat gun is all
If you've burned fabric in the past or haven't tried it because your afraid to , doesn't mean it can't be done successfully and easily
I dont want to melt anyones
QUOTE (pitchatent @ Nov 3 2006, 11:34 AM) [*]444956[/*] I dont want to melt anyones If your going to melt a deck then yes..you better pull the deck Told ya ..these threads about this topic ALWAYS goes this way QUOTE (TintWizard @ Nov 2 2006, 10:09 PM) [*]444849[/*] This trick has been mentioned several times over the yrs here and usually gets shot down by some members I do it all the time. if you do it right you will never know you were in there. Maybe it's better said to first timers to try it on a carpeted speaker box. lotsa fuzzies...give em' a shave with the heat gun. just trying to help the general peeps here is all.
QUOTE (willie @ Nov 3 2006, 10:27 AM) [*]444981[/*] what they forgot to tell you -is soak the deck with gas real good also great tip, been using the "YES it goes on the inside - No you can't WATCH!" Willie, instead of using the gas ( customer might complain about the smell) just take the torch: let some propane leak out in the rear deck area then light er up and wala! You can get all the fussy's from the deck, the sides and along the top in case there is fuzz there too. ONE THING to remember is close your eyes and cover your eye brows with your other hand while you strike the igniter........... wala!!!!! fuzz is gone uniformly in one motion. BE SURE and cover your eye brows or this tip will be called the Mr Rogers propain method......... heeeeeee heeee I think I should make a video for YouT, ya dare me?....... All jokes aside that's a great tip, honest dude......... I have melted the carpet a little once or twice, but like anything else in tinting. You have to practice your technique, before you get it right. You cant be afraid to try new things, because your worried you will damage something. Look at how much damage you can possible do to a car. By simple pulling it in or out, of your shop.
i cover the back the deck with plastic and gaffa it down, also not original but effective.
HAIRSPRAY DUDES! ! i Where have you guy.s been? I thought everyone knew that o'l trick.

QUOTE (lilDetails @ Aug 21 2009, 06:25 PM) [*]712105[/*] hairspray on a rear deck? are you stoned? no drunk QUOTE (lilDetails @ Aug 21 2009, 08:25 PM) [*]712105[/*] hairspray on a rear deck? are you stoned? i used my heat gun just to get the stray hairs on the deck to settle down but it only a split second in the main area like at the bottom of the window where the deck meets the window
Try hair spray...
How about just mist the rear deck lightly with Your slip solutuion and reverse roll, instead of spraying Aqua-Net all over someones car?
