Cost of 4mil and 6mil the same!

I got a quote $900. for 6mil film and found out that they only installed 4mil (Madico CL400SR) Protekt Film. The 3 windows are 7X15, 7X9 and7X11. When questioned the salesman then stated that the cost of the 2 films was the same, and that he made the decision to use 4mil instead of 6mil after speaking with Factory Rep. Sounds like B.S. to me. Whats the the real story men?

What was it you were trying to achieve with the security film?

I wanted the film installed for a safety factor. I'm going to rent my house and want to limit my liability if someone were to break this huge piece of glass.

4mil should work fine. It should retain the glass enough once broken. Won't stop a 2X4 traveling at 100 MPH, I use alot of that film to slow down smash and grabs. In the old US blast mitigation standards, 4 mil fit the bill.

By the way, if that price for the measurements is in feet, you got a great price. I would have charged you alot more.

The installer made the right choice to install 4mil instead of 6mil. I would have been worried about shoving my hand through the windows installing 6mil because of the pressure required to install that film.

From a sales standpoint the price may be the same, however, I'm willing to bet the cost of the product from distribution is 20-50% less expensive for the 4mil

For me there is a 10% difference

Damn....that price is f'n LOW!!! By my figures, its less than what I would have charged for typical solar.
