Complete Competition info will be online by Jan 2007. Keep an eye on www.glassexpos.com. I would like to see one....maybe even enter.....
the ad for the one that just pasted says 5 grand to the winner with all kinds of other goodies...the only reason i would enter would be the money, is that wrong? naaahhhh
If your gonna be in the event its worth going but if your just gonna go to see what its like dont waste your time or money, its kinda boring and they dont have any new products to show you so whats the point, unless your in the event of course
Maybe I should enter and win to.
Went to the last two, don't waste your time, it's a popularity contest....Unless you're part of the group that's "supposed" to win, you don't have a chance in hell.....
I was thinking it would have been the oposite. I would think the mag would be more neutral instead of like a SG comp. and there always beeing a SG dealer winnning.
how do they deal with hecklers....
I went to one in Florida and it was interesting. When you watch people do what you do not the same way you do, it opens your eyes to watch what you do.
Oz..............
I would like to see one with one judge from even major film brand
Anyone know if this is still happening in May 2007 ???
Thanks inadvance I would think so. E-mail em.....find out.....
I beleive the prize this year is 7,500, ......I'd like to know if there was ever a winner who wasn't IWFA certified, i think that's the catch....I believe the judges are reps from 3 major distributors.......Also, I think it should be totally blind, meaning the contestents shouldn't know what car they're doing until the day of the event, that way when the reps(judges) that take their tinters out partying the night before, they don't "accidently" find out what car their tinters are on, like i said, the whole thing last year stunk to hell, no doubt in my mind it was setup...

cheers inadvance ash
I emailed Window Film Magazine.....I forget who got back to me.....
FYI The Tint Off is Ligit....I was judge last year for the auto installs. 3 judges from 3 differ film brands. We didn't know who tinted what car with what film. We looked for Show Room Ready installs.... no water in film nor door panel or exterior of car or even on the floor. I actually found scrape film, olfa bades, razor blades in some of the cars. We looked at the edges very very close. If you have the support of Industry take advantage of it..... Plus a weekend in Vegas....No Brainer!!! Just Remember to who all enrolls "SHOW ROOM READY"
so, you didnt watch the instalation process?
either way ...thats cool. I have never seen a tint-off, sounds like alot of fun. Why did you change the rules yet again DURING the event? Can you see where people like me who went last year would fell kinda jilted? Why was there 2 hours between rounds???!!! Is it cuz y'all were drinking and partying it up in the back rooms......? Hmmm..... I can go all day with this...... Man, I've been waiting for this for soooooooo long. I still cant find any info about dates etc...
who knows wot ?? ash
you look for no water...on a car that was just tinted? even on the floor? Im out, i think a lot of us our. what does water on the panels and olfa blades have to do with a quality tinted window ? nothing, still legit
Drying up your panel and removing your blades, wipeing you blood off the panel cause you cut yourself just seperates the best tinters from the good ones. I think that is what they are looking for.
I don't know how many times I have heard a customer complain about a tinter leaving streaks on the inside of the door panel when they are done. Believe it or not the customers with the shittiest cars are the ones that seem to complain more. We pay a shop helper to make sure the cars are cleaner inside when they leave than when they got there.
I flew in about 8 pm night before, I didn't make or change any rules the rules. no drinking in back room here. Between installs were Very, very, very boring...it sucked... WFM(great people) was nice enough to fly me out and put me up for one day of work. Just to judge a few windows...No Brainer
Would they allow LB to use his Torch on a b/g ?
QUOTE (tint123 @ Feb 15 2007, 11:03 AM) [*]478898[/*] Would they allow LB to use his Torch on a b/g ? They'll have to check the insurance policy for the building for a "pyro tinting clause" QUOTE (TintWizard @ Feb 15 2007, 08:27 AM) [*]478920[/*] They'll have to check the insurance policy for the building for a "pyro tinting clause"
My understanding is their is no tint off this year. I might be wrong but I do attend these events every year and that's what I was told. If someone finds out something different, let me know.
whats up with lb and this torch thing???
go to youtube and do a search on tint....you will see...lol

Was that to give the "golden boys" an advantage.......it's funny how last year if you went over the time limit you were disqualified, but this time, cuz the "golden boy" messed up and went over the time limit, all of a sudden, it was OK to go over the limit, ...I'm sorry, but y'all were blatantly giving certain people advantages........like I said, bogus QUOTE (tintboy10 @ Feb 23 2007, 11:28 AM) [*]482213[/*] whats up with lb and this torch thing???
