Seriously though...

Pricing? Work out what price you need to sell for to make money. Decent money, not "do your mates at the dealership a favour money". Then add 20%.

Best way to approach? I've only once approached a dealership about getting their business, and they ignored me, so I dont have any idea how to go in swinging. Better off spending time and money and effort chasing retail sales.

Watch out for...damaged cars. They'll try to pin any scratch/dent/smudge on you.

More or less, yeah, you be right Devil.

Dealer work pays the bills, IF you have a regular dealer(s) who keeps pumping work at you. But with the ridiculous prices that shops do dealer work for (around here anyways) all that does is keeps the wheels in motion while you wait for the juicy retail jobs to come in any pay what we should be getting per car.

Some stores would die quickly if their dealers pulled out on them. Some dont do dealership work at all. THAT is the best future for the shop owner (and their employees) - when you're doing less work for more money, soon everyone's driving Cadillacs.

And there's a few good bucks to be made in flat glass.

If you want to succeed (and if that, to you, means running a profitable business) then find a niche in your market (or CREATE a niche), become the best at it, and dont be scared to promote yourself.

Howdy Sowdy, what part of Oz are you from? When traveling i found a tint shop in Bundaberg, with no experience in tinting at that time i ended up fruit picking Flaugh.gif

Hey Shady,

I'm about an hour west of the centre of Sydney mate, never been to Bundy but have mates who own the property next to Paul Hogan (Croc Dundee) and might be takin a trip up there in a few months.

Won't go fruit picking though, will save that for the Barmy Army backpackers yeh??? Flaugh.gif

That's how it is all over Rocky except for a few like myself who refuse to wind the clock back 15 years and charge those prices we were getting then today.

now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
