390' of film but how do I install it?

Well, looks like I need your advice. The eBay auction read like this.
"4 rolls of new window film, 60" x 390' total.
60" x 220' mirror bronze 60" x 75' bronze
60" x 75' mirror grey 60" x 20' grey
Scratch resistant, hard coated and easy to work with! Professional grade window film. This film can be used for cars, trucks, boats, buildings and trains. You name it as long as it has glass you can tint it.
This film will reduce up to 99% of he unwanted UV rays that damage and fade furniture, flooring, window treatments and car upholstery."
Before bidding I asked it this film was safe to use on dual pane windows? The seller replied "If it's glass you can use it." Guess that should have been my first clue.
I won the auction for what I thought was a great price & four long boxes of film arrived. I have no installation instructions and the seller will not reply to any emails.
I have dual pane windows but the heat and cold come right through them. I had read on this forum that not all film is safe with dual pane glass. The label on the end of one box shows "International Energy Savers" Film Type: (8815.3) F-88 1.5-mil Laminate-D/X-Gray.
Would you kind gentlemen happen to know if this is safe to use on my windows and how I should install it?? I don't like the looks of the mirror finish so I'd be installing the bronze. I only need roughly 75'.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Same thing happened to me when my car needed a paint job. I went to ebay and won an auction for some PPG auto paint, when it showed up it was all wet and stuff, and there were no instructions. The guy that sold it to me wouldn't tell me how to install it.
So, i went to a forum for car painters and asked them for help.
I don't understand why i was ridiculed.

Oh man, not specs at all?
Bronze is usually less energy absorbing than grey but who knows with this stuff. Do you have a link to the auction site?

My suggestion would be, to look in the "Tint Shops", section of this forum to find a professional installer in your area, thay MAY be willing to install it for you.... Or try your local yellow pages.....

Patti You have a great attitude Patti Just don't exercise your sense of humor any further than you need too by putting that film on your glass.

put the film back up for auction on Ebay and make some money. Then hire a professional to come do you tinting.
If you insist on doing it yourself then at least you have plenty of film to practice with!!!!!

Me spider senses is tingling... this product smacks of high absorption rates, with the Bronze being less than the Grey... I'd be very leery of installing this without performance numbers! And no... we don't get smarter, we get wiser through experience. Actually, IQ's drop points as we age... add the weed, the beer, the rock, the crank, the huffing, the toot to this equation, and you wind up with Jeffro. (Legal note: Jeffro is a fictitious character, not found in real life ) Wiser said to resell on Ebay... or get the specs from the seller and then come back and ask.

This reminds me of the time at my son's school. the teachers there allowed the plumber to tint their cars 2 of them atleast. He put the tint on the out-side. when they drove off the tint blow off. My son who was 11years at the time had early fun-day at school. What worried me most is that those were the people teaching my son. What a dumb bunch of people.

if your going to install it either film should do the trick roll out some film and look through it if it is'nt too dark you should be fine installing it on your windows. I'm guessing there dual pain clear glass and not tinted glass. if there tinted then use the silver mirror film. good luck.

VC... that doesn't appear to be a thermal fracture, it's too close to a corner looking more like a stress or nip fracture.

(filmdit @ Dec 23 2006, 01:45 PM) [*]458865[/*] VC... that doesn't appear to be a thermal fracture, it's too close to a corner looking more like a stress or nip fracture. Well it didn't appear until the film was applied to the glass. Right when the sun hit... My guess is that it was either a clamshell or a pinch on the angle... A true thermal fracture on glass with no glass defects will be on the middle 1/2 to 3/4 of the pane edge and you would still have to remove and inspect the pane to see if it is 90 degree angle straight out from the edge of the glass. It this case, the glass was defective and the film was the catalyst. I usually do not go out of F2G recommendations so true thermal breaks are a rare site for me, I do not even have a picture of a true thermal stress break because I have never placed film on that caused one, not even ceramic. If the Ebay film in question causes a thremal stress fracture the pane of glass will have to be pulled and examined to determine whether or not it is a true thermal stress fracture. There is actually some very interesting data that can be gathered from such an examination. For instance, the break may have multiple fractures starting at the edge. This is due to exterme thermal stress that is often associated with incorrect specification of window film for the glass type. My picture however, was more for an illustrative answer to the quoted question.
