Okay I have on of those multipurpose ladders (Gorilla) and want to use the two a-frames and have a plank in the middle to make a simple scaffolding to use for those jobs where you only need to be off the floor about 3 feet and have a wide window to work on. I have checked around and the cheapest aluminum plank is like $189. I dont mind spending the cash, but is there a cheaper alternative that is just as safe? Wood plank?

no problem

There is the aluminum plank that folds. It stretches out prolly 12' and fold to 6'. Not that heavy either and can fit in the back of a van with out much space taken. Not sure where to get one tho.... We have one at work but no one knows where it came from..
I own an extended aluminum plank, it's nice.
We had a few at the day job and we use them once in a while. I actually spent the last week and a half crawling up 12' ladders to get to the plank. It's so fricking uncomfortable having to climb up and down them all day long. Lots of twisting on the body to go up the ladder and then around to the plank to get onto it.
I was thinking of buying a 12ft x 10in x 2in board and cutting it in half then doubling it up with glue and screws so I would end up with a 6ft x 10in x 4in plank. Only problem it might weigh like 200lbs lol probably would break though!
A 12ft x 10in x 2in board $15.94 at Home Depot....... A Circular Saw, 10 three inch screws, A bottle of Carpenters Glue, 4 C-Clamps and a Passion for Tinting.....$5.64 Being trapped under a 200lb plank after tripping while carrying it..... PRICELESS
Doubling it up would be overkill.
Two of us have stood on a 12 ft 2x10 before while painting. It bows a little in the middle. Get a cheapo sawhorse to put in the center between the ladders. That means no sag in the middle !
I guess they are about 3 feet high ?
I ended up buying this for right now anyways. It is 2ft off the ground and 3ft long and was only $36.
Home Depot
No Lowes...But I am sure Home Depot carries them
Have any of you ever used panter's stilts or drywaller's stilts for filming?

Seriously would be too much bending over to get stuff. You'd look a little goofy if you were only 4'3"..... The human bowling ball! The stilts might just be the answer.
