Gearing up for my first home show... Anyone wanna help?!?!? smile22.gif lol I might see if my sister wants to come down for a bit.. only thing with being a solo shop.

Anyhoo - I was wondering what a good opener would be for when people come over to the booth. I've been trying to think of what to say, and I'm not sure what approach to use.

If I ask a yes or no question - "Is there anything I can help you with?" They could just say no and there isn't any way to continue trying to 'sell' them... but I'm not sure what to say..

Any suggestions from those who have done shows before??

Thanks!!

Only home show that I have done we got with a shop that does Stone Crocks customed with names on them. We were giving away 2 of them and had that as our intro.

"Would you like to sign up for a free customized crock?" Then go for information offerings. You also come up with a nice mailing list to send information to.

Have something that most people that are attending the show would like for the give away.

Find a couple of small display windows like you see at Lowes, they are maybe a 18"X18" ?
Have one tinted, one untinted and a heat lamp.
Then you can demonstrate the reduced heat coming through the window, tinted vs no tint.
Have a banner made with the name of your film.
Such as:
XYZ RESIDENTIAL WINDOW FILM.
LEARN THE BENEFITS OF RESIDENTIAL FILM
Or something of that type.
Have a small TV playing a continuous loop of short clips of Security film
outlining the benefits of Security film. One clip comes to mind is the footage of the guy with a baseball bat needing 40 whacks to finally break the window. Another would be Leos video of the guys trying to break a store window.
Visit auto Wrecking Yards and stock up on 1/4 windows, slap Security film on them, then once an hour have a person try to break the window with a hammer.
Just a few ideas to get folks to stop where you get a chance to try and sell them.

HOT CHICKS!!!!!! Never underestimate the power of the noony. Get the attendees to have there picture taken with the girls and have your buisness sign in the background.

I've done 15 shows in the past 18 months and 1peece has it right, chicks will get you more leads. We have heat lamps, a 40' booth that's handmade and alot of lights, broken sliding glass doors, 42" tv with various types of footage (some hurricane clips as well as a computer generated program showing the benefits of solar protection) among other things. We're a hurricane protection company so I have to sell against shutters and impact glass and everything else on the spot. I also have a standard 30"x33" double hung that I film and lock on one side and put a drop cloth underneath it. Then when I geat my rush, when I'm talking to 10-15 people at a time I kick the shiat out of and even let the customer beat on it. It only lasts a day or two depending how much you kick it, so try to be conservative. The drop cloth catches all the glass and the customer is always impressed with that one. I always open with " How ya doing, are you enjoying the show?" though, they seem more willling to talk if you engage them in friendly conversation before trying to sell them something. thumb.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
