How to keep film leftovers from separation for a long time

I mentioned this in another post and someone thought it might be worth a TOTW attempt so here it is..it's save all tinters $$ if your in flat glass or automotive..especially if you ordered specialty film that you don't use often , but you paid for it.

I've kept partials for yrs without separation :

1.Make sure the film it dry B4 storing

2. Place it inside a core tube with about 3 small moisture bead packs

3. Wrap that up with the plastic bag that comes with your film when you buy it

4. replace end caps (this makes a relatively airtight seal for any moisture entering and the beads locked inside takes care of any moisture when packed)

5. Place lid on

Will last for a long time and save $$$

No prob beer.gif

I used to store specialty film without this method and it would last for 6-9 months, started storing film this way I described and I still have some film that hasn't delaminated after 5 yrs of storing it inot.gif

Not saying the film would be as good as the day purchased, but definitely lasts longer for storing ..and most tinters store some form of leftovers..the key is keeping it dry,and cool and airtight orngbiggrin.gif

I never had a a problem in getting them.
I get them at any computer electronic store for free any store that carries product that has electronics usually finds them in thier packaging and are usually discarded..I imagine you can also pick them up real cheap off the internet.

here' 1 link that at least puts picture into mind

As I say, I've stored film for YEARS and installed it without problems by following the steps above.

Basically, if your a tinter, flat glass or auto it's a money saver. We've all thrown out film because it's delaminated if we've kept it long enough..well, except me now Flaugh.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
