Getting the job as a subcontractor

I have some contractors who I've been talking to, and who have been asked by their clients to look into solar control film for them.

Question: How do I convice the contractors to let me go with them to talk to the client about which films would work best for them?

I'm trying to educate the contractors, sure, but they are NOT going to be able to answer all of the questions that are going to come at them from their client.

I think they're sorta being cowboys. I think they're used to situations where something like drywalling or whatever needs to be done so they just go out and hire a drywaller to do the job. I need to try to get them to think of SCF as more of a technical/designer type of retrofit for glass than as a simple building material. When I start throwing some of thes science and why you can't put certain types of films on certain types of glass, their eyes sorta glaze over. LOL

not to be a pr|ck but it probably has a little to do with gender. But yea I see them do that sometimes when you start talking about thermoshock and seal failure. If you figure it out let me know so I can try it. Flaugh.gif

Oh yeah, I come across the gender thing quite frequently. Sometimes it helps that I grew up on a farm in the PNW and have a grasp of the "good old boy" language...

You need to let them know that if you can't see the conditions of the areas being filmed, you can't properly warranty the install. You'll do it right, but you can't be held liable for glass breakage and seal failure. I worked with a couple contractors like that and all they wanted to know was what kind of film can they use for double pane and what kind they used for single pane. I gave 'em N1050 and N1035 and said here ya go. thumb.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
