I was checking into maybe offering MMM film so I emailed my area's distributor and I get a email reply saying this: Thank you for your interest in 3M window film.
Currently we are not seeking additional representation in (omitted). If you are still interested, I encourage you to check back every 4 - 6 months as needs of representation change.
Regards, Manny H.Business must be good if they are not accepting any more dealers to sell their films. Unless its a very smart marketing thing as to where they do not want to flood the market with their product to make it look special.....

Bad for you but it is good to see thay are finally changing policy. We had so many 3M dealers around here at one time there was 6.

He keeps saying representation and not "dealer".
Becoming a 3M dealer was the hardest thing I ever did. It took at least 20 phone calls to 7 places before I could finally get a hold of someone.
The old rep for my area never answered his phone or called back. I had to finally call the headquarters, they referred me to him, I said no. Then I called this department. They said call him, I said no. I called someone else and eventually they told me the phone number to the distributor.

3M supposedly has a protected territory up to X amount of miles from one dealer to another. Is there another MMM dealer close by? One thing that does stink is you are supposed to use their film exclusively and it can be sum high dollar $|-|17. Every flatglass estimate we give customers seem to perk up when they hear the name 3M . Whether it's better than any other film on the market i would say "i doubt it."

I don't use their film exclusively. Nor did the paper I signed say I have to.
Heck, the rep in my area knows I don't. I told him to his face when he took me to lunch. LOL.

Maybe they want to control Prestige but the rest of the stuff gets hoared out. I can get it anyone can, even window coverings dealers. We had 6 MMM dealers in a town that can maybe hold 2 max. What was Big Red's philosophy behind that one? Here was a typical bid... Me with my stuff and then 4 or 5 MMM dealers. I always aske the customer "what was the difference between all of the 3M guys?" It turns out to be a sharkfest.

When I had talked with them they said they could sell me Auto film and they didn't care how many other dealers were nearby. When I asked about Residential film, Its "I'm sorry but this territory already has a dealer".

like you mentioned there is something about territory, we're an exclusive 3M dealer, our rep says we're the only ones in the city

I'm about 60 miles away from the closest 3m flat glass dealer.

In my area the 3M guys fight each other like sharks now that 3M opened up the territories!
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
