Full Version: Plexiglass

I have a small work to do in couple of weeks.
There are 3 panes that were replaced in Plexiglass instead of regular tempered glass for the homeowners, this is due because they live in a golf course, and they thought golf balls will damage their windows, so then they replaced 3 panes for 1/8" plexiglass.
Sounds stupid anyways, and the installation is done in Sunscape LDG-35-8mil.
I work as a subcontractor, so then i received 2 boxes.

1. LDG-35-8mil
2. CL-700-EXR

I was been told to clean the plexiglass with my window solution and towels, then apply the cl-700 clear film on it, wait 10-15 min to let it dry, then add the 8-mil film on it.

Question is: i know there is no warranty on both films once installed, but i never done two security films on top of each other at the same time. Dont you think these two films will not hold together? evileye.gif should i try other window solution? hmmmmmmm.gif
After both 2 films are on, there is a guy coming next day to attach it with dc-995 on it.

thumb.gif it will be fine CL700 is a ps adhesive will bond to the plexi faster, then the DG over that will be fine.
I have done similar with CL700 and SRS220 with no problems.
as long as the customer knows there is no warranty on the plexi because it won't last very long thumb.gif

Well it was a bad install, that's all. It was Western exposure at 2pm and it was an outside office for a Shell station. All plexiglass except for the two sliding doors. The film stuck almost immediatley and it was awful to work with, I hated it and will never do plexi again. JMHO though.

i did my first install today, and it came 95% good, i had use a 2" plastic scraper blade from a local window repair company since i'm not able to use my triumph blades, my window solution and a squeegee. It came out almost perfect, except some bubles on edges from dirt or silicone leftovers. Uhhcopy.gif
Also, I had to wait 15 min intervals between the 7-mil and the 8-mil films, and since plexiglass is flexible i had to use a soft blue max squeegee.
This work was not easy because of the height and damn hot florida weather krazy.gif

Very cool, bro! thumb.gif

just finished 530 sf of blisterfree , clear went up yesterday , tinted film today.

the BF film was 90% cured in 16 hours , other than having to tint the same window 2x
the application went smoooth.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
