my suggestion to be
Dot matrix: the easiest solution to make them appear perfect. shrink apply and squeegee as normal. pull back the film on the matrix part, spray with a mix of 50/50 alchohol and water, lay film over the dots, let soak for 45 seconds or so , and squeegee out as normal. works like a motha
Wassup 1peec. long time no type man.
That tip sounds awesome, I'll give that a shot!!!
Sounds good...do you not get any comtamination from the lifting and reapplying?
I suppose this works best for windows with a large are of matrix at the top? I would imagine it would be a bit fiddly for regular windows? I will try it.
Nice tip....
The alcohol really loosens up the glue.....but dont use too much....the glue will just run off the film.
this has been my method for awhile now instead of glue. but it doesn't work everytime. i fall back to the glue when it doesn't.

Thanks I'll have to give it a shot

What percentage alcohol should I use? And what kind of glue are most of you using for the matrix? Something like probond geared specifically for tinting industry? I have heard glue sticks also work, I'm guessing the regular old office glue stick.
I use probond adhesive promoter, but would rather go without if this 50/50 solution does the job
well if its 50/50, thats 50% alchaol, 50% water.

I had a tinter that worked for me way back when that did this-it lead to alot of warrantee work!
I will ask again...do you only use this method with windows that have heavy matrix at the top?
I cant see how you can glue a back glass without getting contamination from lifting fim, applying glue etc. I glue windows that can be removed or the matrix can be easily accessed , otherwise QUOTE (TINTDESIGNZ @ Apr 4 2007, 03:29 PM) [*]496733[/*] I dont use alcohol on matrix-kills the life of the film. has anyone tried Rapid tac on the matrix?
just thinking outloud I have been using aleens clear glue QUOTE (TITAN500 @ Apr 4 2007, 06:19 PM) [*]496871[/*] has anyone tried Rapid tac on the matrix? Yep did it yesterday works OK
I'm on the same way of thinking, water only on dot's no glue or wathever!
Works nice! My way is spray the center and leave a edge with nothing on it, then wen reching the edges go with pure water, it works ok with the Reflectiv films i use! QUOTE (GodofWarII @ Apr 4 2007, 05:31 PM) [*]496759[/*] i heard the same thing..thats why its just water for me just to flush the slip solution away the elmers blue glue is water soluble...its not any harder to remove then the glue that is left over from the film
i tried this today i used straight 91% isopropyl,OMG can you say glue snot?
next attempt i used 91% watered down to 70ish % worked great on a 04 malibu i sanded with 4oo before just in case. next car was a 04 maxima same thing only 1 spot where i didnt sand well and started turning white so glued that area. turned out great im going to experiment with the strength of the solution till I get consistent results. i think sanding lightly to take a little off the top of the dots helps and if you are careful it wont affect the antennea if it has one in the matrix.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
