My wifes main problem is that I tend to yell, because I am not a good trainer, in her opinion.

In light of my injury last week, my wife and I decided that the show must go on. We cant afford to loose business like we did last week. So, my wife has very reluctantly stepped up to the plate, and tomorrow is day one. She says there is nothing anyone can say to her to help prepare her to work in this job. Is that true you guys, especially tint chick, because I know she has first hand experience.

She, like any other newbie, is gonna waste film. Invest the $ in her. At least she aint gonna leave ya to open her own shop after she's trained!!!! Dave-my wife has worked with me for almost 10 years...you have to separate work from home. She needs to understand that if you are frustrated at the job...that you aren't TAKING IT OUT on her! Once my wife understood that its been smooth sailing....
I disagree. Our work life and home life are very connected!
We respect each other at work. We respect each other at home. IT TAKES A LOT OF WORK! We communicate, constantly. We argue occasionally, but we HAVE to work through it. If we don't we lose money! So we agree to get along...no matter what! If you are training her to tint...be patient! VERY Patient!
I 'd love to have my wife tint along side with me, but she makes too much guaranteed paycheck$$$ to leave her profession not to mention , she has a benefit package which covers the family. Kinda a catch 22..the one person I could trust for sure AND lives at home..but lose income ..to make income
Thanks for the input everyone. I wish my wife could have a better paying job, because I know that she is more than capable. But, we have two autistic children, so she has given up her career to stay at home with them, so we did loose a second income 11 years ago.
She wants to work, at least that what she says, but didn't want to tint. But, this is our income, our business, and we need another person to be able to run it when im out injured or sick. My kids last day of school is today, so it will be a few months before we can do allot of training, but when they go back to school, it will be time to work. She does work now answering the phone and scheduling my work, which is a big help.
Having the wife work with me is great. First I would rather spend $$$ on waste for her to learn and secondly nooners in the van

Alexia (my wife) and I have worked together for about 35+ years and have loved it. For about half that time our main business was named “Stan’s Custom Tinting” now it’s “Alexia’s Window Tinting”! When we were young we started a high rise window cleaning company and had several jobs cleaning the outside windows of 20 -30 story buildings and she was my rigger (making sure everything was safe). Talk about treating your wife great, she tied all safety stuff!!!!! At work we are best friends and before employees were able to visit as a couple while working and then go home and raise 3 kids! All the money goes home to you is a great benefit too.
Hope everything goes great for you two! P.S. remember when you think about loosing your temper at work that you have to go home with her!!!! Stan
She admitted to me today that she hates this
she is really coming around to being a true tinter/helper with that attitude I must be training her right
Hey keep us informed . I'd like to pimp out, uh i mean train my wife to
tint as well!
Is this true ?
A Man saying he can train a Woman ? If he succeeds, he could millions of $$ teaching other guys how train their wives ! QUOTE (tint123 @ Aug 20 2007, 08:47 PM) [*]536608[/*] Is this true ? If he succeeds, he could millions of $$ teaching other guys how train their wives ! lol Yeah you pretty much have to be patient, It took me two weeks to get the steps down pat and 2 years to perfect it... ok I lied I'm not perfect Be patient, let her know the film cost money, but don't scare her into not wanting to touch it... expect to waste a couple hundred on tint... and of course if you have to ask her to redo something then tell her what she can do to be sure that doesnt happen again...Its gonna take time money and patience... all of which are hard to come by Kudos for the wife for stepping up to the plate much respect. I wanted to mention that you have to want to do window tint to do it. mention to her away from the jobsite that this is very important (preferably when she is not mad about tinting) when she tries again she will have a new enthusiasm for tinting (hopefully) you definitely need to find a way to get her to want to do it.... maybe when she finishes a window tell her how far she has came
I have had my wife working with me for about 2.5 yrs. I have been tinting 20 something yrs and her 2.5 It is incredible, she knows more then me and is 10 x better. Just ask her
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
