I'm looking to enter the Tint market later this year, i'm abt to start on a few cars next week. Praticed alot of cuts and abt to do my on car, then 3-6 more as examples. I really want to get into this because i cant take my car to any of my local tinters after seeing their work on alot of cars(friends and familes). Also they leave a couple trade marks that have started to annoy me.
1. Gap at the top of the roll downs aren't constant all the way round, and cut rough 2. alot of their roll downs windows started peelin very soon, which i predicted as soon as i seen how they left some of the corners. 3.The famouse matrix line. i walk to work everyday and abt ten tinted cars and they all had this trade mark 4. also one of them did my uncles Merc Kompressor and broke the alarm sensor and my uncle though it was just the darkness of the tint so he peeled the back window of leaving all the glue. i said he must have let water get in to the sensor they were both in denial.
Back to the point of shaving or leaving the gap, can i actually finish the job leaving the gap it still b a professional install.
I jus wanna b the best in town by dealing with the matrix and the top egde properly. Eventually i master the shaving
I'm in the UK too.

I leave just a sliver of a gap @ the top of my roll downs, I run my film wat too far to the edges of the glass to try and shave/file top edges but thats me there are lots of ways to go about it Good Luck with your adventure

its easiest to run it up as close as possible. if you run it too close you will have to shave/file it or it will peel. it should be consistant though. in my opinion 1/32-1/16 is acceptable, anything bigger was cut wrong or badly.
when you cut just keep the same angle on your blade all the way through the top edge and you should be fine. good luck

thanks for that tinters.
in my spare time i'll practice the shaving, so do u reccomend tryin any type of blade inparticular. I was attempting it with a red dot but think i can find something better like a craft knife i seen in video clip once. Also i wasnt sure wat to chizzle with, dont want to damage the glass on any off my cars.

I leave a hairline gap if any at all, cause i also like to stuff my tint really far on the insides. So it covers every thing...the only windows i will shave now days are frameless ones..they always turn out killer...
as far as types of tools to shave glass...If you have all day to let em dry before you shave them then you wont need a torch but a cross cut bastard files works good (if its a old used files, so its not really sharp)..But finger nail files work really well to....just make sure its dry and stuck...
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
