Someone asked where we were. It's PRO Stitch Auto Interiors and Upholstery, Inc. Located in Taylorville, IL. Right about the middle of the state, 350 miles south of Chicago, an hour and a half from St. Louis. Opened in September 2000. For a couple years we had a second shop in Mattoon, but you just can't control the quality when you're not there everyday. So I opted to shut it down in January rather than have our name get damaged because the work was lacking.

Interesting point, and it's kept me from posting for awhile. If you look back a few posts and see the one about starting a shop in Illinois. That guy learned upholstery at my shop, then skipped out to be the competition. It didn't fly, but he tried. I figure I'm not stepping on any toes anymore posting a few things since I don't think he's even in town anymore.

I've given up on employees, I'd rather be at the machine 13 hours a day rather than have someone hacking away and making you pull your hair out.

Currently working on a 67 Galaxy 500 convertible (full mild custom interior, top is already in place), 64 Galaxy seats and carpet, just finished a 1940 Chevy sedan, a Nissan 300 custom convertible (factory customized, one of only a handful. I'll post the top when it's done), and of course boats, bike seats and whatnots.

Keep on stitchin' bro... thumb.gif thumb.gif

Your work looks great from where I'm sitting... beer.gif

I know what it's like trying to keep up the quality, if you're not around to watch...
I am in my shop everyday.

2 of us can sew, all of us can do tops, but I have to admit, the trimmer I recently hired on is much more masterful than me.....

I am lucky to have him, I can get way more work out than before.....

And I just bought another Consew 226R, to help keep up.... thumb.gif thumb.gif

Russell I really didn't try to even start a shop it was mikes idea to get a sign and stuff... I only did a cutlass and a civic working for him then me and him started arguing and i quit. I guess you learn quick who is using you, then when you point it out they get pissed.

In all honesty I really regret quiting out there. It was a good job with a good boss.

I still do want to thank you for the experience. and apologize for being stupid.

Whew, glad to hear that I was ok as a boss. LOL. By the time stuff rolled around back to me, that's definitely not the story that was being told. But I'm also not one to give a crap what others think, as long as the work is piled up.

At least sewing is a trade that you can hold onto. It's like riding a bike, just need to keep in practice.

Good luck.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
