Has anyone done one of these. What a cake walk. Did my first one today, took about 1.5 hours, next one will be done in under an hour. The only thing is the windows drop when you open the doors (like other BMW's), but other than that they are a easy buck!!
i havent tinted one yet, i have seen numerous ones around town here, and none are tinted, go figure.
Yyyyep, goofy things, but fun to tint.
I tinted one and the glass did'nt drop like you said it never moved, and the guy was so into his car that he put black duct tape for stripes all down the hood and top even on the bumpers. looked stupid and cheap the shampoo was starting to make it lift off I'm sure once he washes it the whole thing will strip the tape off.
speaking of those bmw's where the heck is the fuse for those windows, i have just been pulling the battery terminals off. when i get em cuz i could not find the fuse for the life of me. but when i pull the term off. i have to let the whole system reset it's self. and when i have a customer waiting . they get nervous like i broke the car
I found if you click the snib over with a screwdriver where the mechanism engages the door striker with the door open you fool the door into thinking its closed and the window pops up all the way. This method works on most vehicles where the windows drop slightly to allow the door to close. Just dont forget to flick the handle again as if you were opening the door to return the system to normal.
Or you can take an old squeege and put that on the button in the door jam, like you said it tricks the window.
you know what i must be a comlete idiot. i do that with the latch on the old broncos bg. for the same exact reason to trick it. so i can get the window out. why did i not think of doing that with the doors
Also, on the 2002 models you can keep the door open and press up on the window switch (don't hold, or window will roll down a little so as to prevent the window from hitting the weatherpane) to make window go up all the way. This, at least, works on my S, but as for other models, I am unsure...
That's how we trick them
i just trigger the window with the door latch..

There is a fuse box under the hood. pop the cover off and if I can remember right it is #14. It is also listed on the inside of the cover. Make sure you dont take it out unless you have the doors closed. I just in form the customer to put the fuse back in after 3 days, and show them where it goes.
Why would you pull the fuse? I just do what TG said and set the latch in the door making the window think that the door is closed.
Yep...triggering the latch takes all of 3-5 seconds....
Oh man, I did one of these last week (my first one) and it is hands down the easiest car Ive ever done (next to the 99-04 Mustangs). It took me about 1 hr. 15 min. and it came out perfect! Yeah, all I do is click the door latches over and the windows stay up. very very easy
I have one of these coming up soon do you have to shrink the back window? it doesn't look like you have to but I havn't been up close enough yet to see.
yes you need to

I h@te to admit it but I have a few times. What an awful sound. And your like "OH GOD please dont let it be screwed up!"
