This is a little challenging, the qtr windows in the doors are a bit tight but you can nail em.

Panel Pullers: The dr side door has one screw behind the door handle, pop out the tweeter at the top of the door, and then look into the armrest handle. Peel back the rubber trim on the right hand side and a little screw is down there. The panel pops right out then. Every other panel has a plastic handle built into it that you must remove the cover then remove two 10mm bolts everything else is the same otherwise.

Look great tinted, I did a quick cut on the qtr glass test fit it then re cut with adjustments to where there were light gaps.

Don't forget to tell them about removing the door light cover at the bottom of the panel to reveal 1 more Phillips screw to be removed B4 pulling that panel beer.gif

Personally I don't see how you can cleanly install tint on this car without pulling the panel..it's a tight gasket and the doors have to be slightly shrunk dunno.gif

Weird, I didnt see any screw behind a light. Oh well, the job went well either way.

I agree I wouldnt take this car on without pullin the panels. beer.gif

I dont remember a screw behind that light on the one I did last week, or on the 3. Unless I pulled the screw through the panel dunno.gif

I agree with your second statement, it is a more easier and cleaner install with the panels removed, but then again I do remove most panels since most are easy to remove anyhow, especially on the new mazdas. thumb.gif

Yeah, I do a lot of 6's and on the 2 front doors on the bottom corner of the panel, theres a clear plastic peice thats slides off revealing a light and a screw...Canadian version anyways dunno.gif Flaugh.gif

I like the 3 sports and sedans..no panel pulling needed..just pull back the tops for easy clean access beer.gif
VIP tint + glass
similar to all of mazdas panels.

How is the backglass on the 07 models in regards to shrinking. Looks fairly easy. Soap method or wet?

So do you REALLY have to remove the panels on the 2007 model? I hate removing the panels...no room to pull and tuck?

To each his/her own I'll say yes, others will say no. I tint doors based on nothing in the way on the bottom of doors .

All I can tell you is that I usually pull back panels / use a gasket wizard or remove the rub rail and only remove panels if I think it will make a difference in the outcome of the final job. This car I do it on , I don't do it because I feel like putting in extra steps for something to do Flaugh.gif

The doors should be heatshrunk a little on that car as well and make sure you scrape down the "printing stamp" on the 1/4 glass REAL good or otherwise it'll leave lots of contamination under your tint trust.gif

bingo.gif fergot all about that thumb.gif

I did not pull the panels. There was room to tuck...clean install too! I also didnt heat shrink the sides...The main reason being the outside rubber molding is very thin and can easily be melted if you hold the gun in one place too long...Rear window was a snap to shrink and laid real nice on the inside too....No matrix to deal with.

take off the panels you lazy bastards. those strips are tiiight. if you dont take off the panels. your getting alot of contamination in there Flaugh.gif

Go spend a few bucks and buy a couple of these red devels. One to pull the seal back and the other to push the film in. Who wants to spend an extra hour pulling panels when you dont have to..... poking_someone_in_the_eye.gif

Funny response sweat.gif

I personally found that by the time I fooled around with the red devils on that car, it wasn't a clean enough install for me personally (before I get chewed out I'll state that I probably am not as good at using those things as others on here Flaugh.gif )

I did one of these cars last night and for the hell of it timed it,with the right power rachets and know how, these panels pull off AND go back on with a total time of 20 min.

For me personally, it's worth the time . Whenever coming upon door windows that you'd rather shrink than stretch but are afraid of burning trim, just roll down the window slightly with the fingers at the TOP of the windows and you'll never have that problem or worry again thumb.gif

I couldn't have put it better myself TW.
Doing the installation that way guarantes a job never returns because of peeling or where a customer sees contam and wants it redone so add up that prevention in redo time and you are way in front.

to each his own beer.gif beer.gif i dont pop panels,i can tint most any car without doing that, but i have tinted for shops that do,and it is easier.. but i can do a quality job either way.. thumb.gif
beano
most cars these days have clip of panels (some have flimsy peel back ones) so what i do is pull it off, unhook from the top and stick back on so i dont have to disconnect everything) it doesnt take much longer and the ease of the job is better, it makes it easier to trim the bottom of the tint if its too long. (which reminds me on mazda 6s if the bottom of the tint is trimmed correctly you dont need to shrink the side windows ive found)

the way i work with tint is i make sure i have extra overhang at the top and bottom of the side windows. itrim the top exact with the glass at the top before winding the glass up, squeegee the bottom then trim below the seal krazy.gif
