Bula Guys and Gals. I guess its about time, i try posting one out here for all of you. I mainly have being into the business of windshield repair and restoration of auto glass by removing hard water stains and coating it with a anti water treatment to ensure that the clarity of the glass remain for a long period of time and looking forward to adding tinting to it. Through experience, i have noticed that this stains are very visible on darker glasses surfaces and they do make a big difference in the outlook of auto glass no matter what tinting film one may use. For high end vehicles to ensure that the cutting edge of your tinting skills and the quality of the auto film to show, i would highly recommend for a anti water treatment to the ouside of auto glass. On the brighter side, additional business for you. I hope i won't have to on this one

Here, and in most Blue Ridge/Appalachian states, we have a real problem with acid rain spots on glass due to the coal fired electric power plants. And yes, they stick out like a sore thumb the darker the tint. If you have a method of getting rid of them, please let us know. I'd vote THAT tip of the decade!!!

hey key west ask a local detail shop what they use to remove water spots. i asked a local detailer and he sent me his supplier over to the shop. he had water spot remover for glass and paint. you cant use the glass one on paint or vice versa as it will damage the surface permanently. but the glass one works really really good. ive used it on old cars that have sat outside for a long time and it removes the water spots no prob. but it takes a little bit of elbow grease and some time. ill get the name of the product for you tomorrow but its lime green paste like and you use it like wax. wax on, wax off! hers the product. made by pumex.

I normally use cerium oxide which you mix as a paste and you could just use a rag to rub into the contaminated glass which will give it a nice finish look. However, it is a lot of work so i have being buffing the glass with this compound and it certainly has made work easier and faster, messy however. Give the car a good wash and apply a anti water treatment from Nanotec to ensure that the clarity of the glass remains. Hope that this helps.

You just got my vote for TOTW!! That would be a GREAT add-on service to sell the custy. If it weren't so labor intensive, it might be a good freebie for the custy. But since I have this aversion for FREE work, I'll just offer the service for a nominal fee. (hourly wage shop monkey = Spots on......Spots off, Spots on.....Spots off!) Yeah,.....I'm a dick like that!!!

How can the extra business hurt?

we charge a fee but its cheaper if they get it done before we tint the windows, because its easier to clean off water spots when you can roll the windows down a little bit to get all the water spots off from the top edge. i tell the cust that after its tinted the water spots will be more noticeable and they usually go for it! i'm now looking at all the cars out there with water spots. theres a lot more than we think, i even found some on my rear window, and got them off quickly.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
