Hey guys. so... insurance is getting expensive... I would like to make money and not pay for the aforementioned devil. What's the best places to advertise? i went to a real nice subdivision that sits at the highest point in the county I live in. Huge homes with big windows and lots of sun. I did this like 2 days ago. How long does it usually take people to respond? Also - Are businesses good to go after? should I just waltz in and ask to speak with a manager? Also- What do you guys include on your flyers? I think i had too much stuff. what are the real good "attention getters" that you have found? how much do you spend on advertising? Any tips to an engineering major who sucks at business skills? thanks everyone
Recommend you do some digging and see if this sub division has a Nome Owners association HOA or some type of community newsletter. If so, get a small ad in their paper and ask the HOA if you can present at one of their meetings.
Repeat this for every major community ithin your coverage area.
Check on line for local directories. Many are free. You do need a web page and this is an inexpensive task.
Think creatively.

I've put out flyers and had people call months later. It all depends on when they are ready to have their windows tinted. I've had friends of people who have gotten my flyer... in a totally different area. You never know who may respond or when, so even if you don't get calls right away it doesn't mean it's been a waste of time. -R

so your saying that I should be creative, and buy a blimp? What about the Hindenberg? I'll get some german's to throw one together for me. It'll be a flying death machine. my slogan will be, "Let ME tint your windows, or these guy's will light a match!"

I think having a super hot girl in a bikin! holding a sign saying tint sale today only would work the best.

Talk to glass shops in your area and see if you can put up flyers in their shops. Also, car dealerships if you do auto glass. You also might consider joining BNI or a similar networking group. There should be one in your area, they are a group of businesses that meet together and talk about what their business does - sells. You can also tell any customer of yours that is a business owner you will give them a discount if they will put up flyers at their business for you, or if they work in a factory or somewhere with a bulletin board have them put some up there.

Direct mail, through the post office or if you have a monthly mailer with coupons and ads, you may want to try that. You can go by zip codes to be sure you hit your target area.... We have 2, one is the "Money Mailer", the other is "Val-Pak".... I tried it when I was pressure washing homes, I got a good response, esp. from the ritzy gated community near the beach....$$$$ Radio is another good option....

I dont do the yellow page ad thing. I advertise thru my website (getting ranked high helps) also try Google AD Sense it helps to get ranked in ur area. One of my best ways is lettering up your vehicle. I just wish I had the interest and expertise to do auto tint because I get at least 2-3 people walk up to me asking how much do I charge to tint cars...UGH! I got a nice big commercial job by pulling up to a Tim Hortons drive thru to get my morning coffee. The commercial property owner called me the next day telling me he saw my truck and got my number off of it. Also get with custom home builders, blind companies, interior decorators, and bodyshops if you do auto. As far as the flyers go, just buy them from the film companies. They are alot cheaper and more professional looking then making them yourself. Expect about 5 calls for every 100 you hang. Hope that helps a little.

Never miss an opportunity to introduce someone to the product. In line at a gas station, shopping at a store, dropping your car off for service at a car dealership. Any opportunity to drop a card can make a difference. You never know when a car that costs you pennies can make you thousands of dollars! Anyone and everyone has at least one window in their home or business that needs film. I met a guy at a brew pub a month ago and struck up conversation with him. The next thing you know I have him on the schedule and make some nice lewt from the job! Make sure everyone you know is aware of what you do. You would be amazed at the amount of people that you know very well that have no idea what your services include. Market the hell out of yourself, and that is FREE advertising. Market the hell out of yourself, and that is FREE advertising. All good stuff I know businesses that regularly every month that put out flyers on people's cars in big parking lots. They say it pays off big. This way you're getting to people that you wouldn't normally come into contact with every day. "Catch their eye, put the idea in their minds, they'll buy" It's spur of the moment buying. Think about how WalMart does it with the cold drinks and candy bars at the checkout register. Also, then you can write off your expenses while you're doing it. As long as you speak of your business, it's a business expense or trip. This information was given to me by my tax advisor.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
