Dude give it a break.
We've all tried to help around here and your questions have been answered. Take it back to the tinter that did it and have it re-done. We cant re-tint it through the computer. beer.gif

FilmBlazer
No its not that hard. Get your money back. Call another company. Look at some of their work.
TINTZEUS
The new LEXUS GS' are not hard at all...no need to shape the roll-up's. I would call a local dealer and see who they would use.

thanks for the 2nd opinions.

I know i asked about the flames in another subforum. duck.gif
But I think this is sort of a different question, and more lexus-specific.

VIP tint + glass
its a piece of cake to tint. take it back already. bad tint+ bad job=refund
alltracpete
Well the "flames" or stains left behind on the ceramic film is something I used to see a bit when working at Lexus using a "ceramic" film. But never that bad. Did happen with EXTREME heating and maybe it was wet shrunk. Some how it leaves those ghost fingers in the film. its been a long time so I may be imagining this....
tintman237
OK Dude,
you want it done and done right, I'm in AZ call me and drive out here, I'll do it with NO ghost marks GUARANTEED

Can you still leave the door panels on if you don't shrink the side windows???

I want to get this done properly without pulling panels, because that can lead to rattles.
micro-edge
You don't have to pull panels off on any vehicle to tint them, it does help to get a cleaner install especially on a r/r but yes it can be done without removing panels. I also agree the tinter shouldn't have to shrink the side windows but dayumn, what's up with johnson's new film gasp.gif Better shy away from that film for now...

As uneducated as I am, I don't think it's the film that is the problem.
Based on what some of you have said, the installer shouldn't have shrunk anything in the first place.

If you installed Huper Optik ceramic 30 the same way by heating 8 different fingers, you'd probably get the same result. I know for sure that the huper leaves ghost marks on the back glass.
VIP tint + glass
yo man that shouldnt happen to any window period. thats one hell of a salesman if he talked you into it, it looks bad, and youre STILL defending it.

heres what you should do if you still want that film. look at your backglass. does it have any ghosting? if not, tell the installer "the backglass is way curvier than the doors. how come there isnt any ghost marks there? can you just shrink the doors in the same way you shrank the backglass?"

also if the installer is used to pulling panels he shouldnt have a problem taking them off and putting them back on without any rattles. however if he doesnt pull them, dont tell him to cuz more than likely he will brake something. if i were you i would shop other other tinters close by you and get a quote for another ceramic film that may suit your needs first then ansk for the tint to be removed and refunded if they cant fix those doors.

there are many ceramic films out there that have already worked out the bugs. seriously, this johnson stuff is way new so it has issues. all new films have it every now and then. i carry a new line of tint, but i waited till the bugs were worked out first. my old boss got it when it first came out and they recalled the whole lot.

grinning_and_saying_no.gif not if its done right, so let me ask this, if the doors look like that, what does your back glass look like icon_confused.gif did they put ceramic on there icon_confused.gif and if they did, did they piece it, or do it in one piece dunno.gif

OOOPPPPSSSS I guess I should have read all the way down before asking my ?? on the BG, like VIP said, if the BG doesn't look like that, then nothing else should beer.gif
dunnojack
I'm not defending the work done on my car.
I do not like it at all.

I'm just saying that if this tinter touched ANY brand of ceramic tint, it would turn out the same....... because he doesn't know how to install it properly. Any crappy installer can fock up good tint.
They've never installed Madico MAC before, or any other ceramic tint for that matter.
So these guys are total noobs. Too bad I didn't know beforehand.

TINTMAN:

Yes, the back glass has flame marks around the 4 corners of the glass. But it is less noticeable because the sun usually doesn't hit the window at the necessary angle for you to see it from a distance.

Only one piece was used. They fukked up, didn't they..

The manufacturer suggested that 2 pieces should be used.
But no, I only have one big azz piece of film on my bg, heat shrunk.
It looks like this:

However, I do know that Danny's carwash in AZ won't do certain bg's with huper optik because it will ghost as well.

My moneys on agent 237, give him a chance and you will be completely satisfied beer.gif
tintman237
No, it should be done in one piece, there are some tinters on here that will disagree, but that car is by no means hard to do with a ceramic film.
Most of the cars that Danny's does, do have Huper on them, and for the really hard ones they have some "specialists" that they call in to do the job.
I happen to be one of them, I'm not BS'n ya, if you can get your money back, have them remove the film, and are close to Phoenix, gimmie a call.
I will do that car with no problems in Madico's Advanced Ceramic, Hupers C -40, or if you insist on Johnsons, I will use their film as well, and have no ghost marks, 1 piece BG 100% satisfaction beer.gif

i would have to say take it to 237 as well. he has knowledge on ceramic films, but i would stick to the MAC or the huper cuz thats what he likes.

237, you wouldnt want to use the new johnsons and risk having a bad job if the film really does have issues to be worked out. then dunno may be unsatisfied again. stick to the film that you use. you use it for a reason.
dunnojack
thanks for all the input.

if i ever manage to drive 400 miles to AZ, i'll make a pit stop.

I still think i just got unlucky with a bunch of noobs with little to no skillz except with dyed tint.

I mentioned "snapping" the doors, and they refuse to see how it could help eliminate ghosting.

I'm in the process of arranging for the Johnson manufacturer to install my tint in-house at the factory for their research purposes.
Call me a guinea pig. Hopefully it will work out. Maybe I'll get my money back or even get paid for my troubles, and a good tint job. dunno.gif
tintman237
thumb.gif If that does happen, Talk to David Reid, he is oe of the "upper" mgmnt guys @ Johnsons, tell him you know a tinter from Phoenix AZ Harold from "Harold's House of Tint" he used to be my rep back in the day when I used their films.

and tell him I said to work on getting installers trained instead of just selling a hi end product to anyone with the money to purchase it beer.gif beer.gif
VIP tint + glass
just make sure it gets done to your liking. you paid good money you should get a good job. and make sure when you get to the factory you tell them how unsatisfied you are, and how unconvenient it is that you have to go the actual manufacturer fix a job that an installer should know how to do.

I'll be sure to mention all that..... especially that last part about the lack of training before selling.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
