been posted in general section too but i want as much help as possible......
right,i'm sick to death of this, not only is it getting to me but its starting to affect my business.
all i want is decent tint at a decent price THAT IS IN STOCK AT ALL TIMES!!!
is this too much to ask?
i've worked with suntek for almost 3 years, previously i used johnsons.
i'm not a cheap ass but i dont take kindly to getting ripped off hence the reason i moved to suntek from johnsons. johnsons, charge to cut the film down from 60" to whatever i need it and charge delivery on whatever i order whther its one roll or a few.
i recently decided to give out good ole leo's range of dartzfilmz, great price, quick delivery (although i still havent had a receipt bill!) and every percentage i wanted was in stock.
but problem is, its a hell of a lot slower at shrinking than suntek and johnsons and what really gets me now is when i'm about to finish a window, the little fingers you get popping up here and there take an absolute age to get rid of! suntek etc add a bit of heat quick wipe and theyre away, dartz??? not a hope, nightmare when its at the bottom of a saloon car window.
i still stock dartz and suntek but surprise surprise i've been let down yet again by vinyl logistics,so i 'm needing more suntek but i'm sort of held back cause theyre the only uk suppliers of suntek??
any ideas??? i've tried madico, found it ok but a bit over priced, never been near llumar, contacted johnsons not long ago but they still have the usual rip off charges added on plus i still dont think theres much of an advantage over suntek the only difference being the johnsons are a decent bit dearer (for no real reason apart from brand name from what i can gather)
never tried sungard, also i'm tired of having 2,3,4 different brands in stock, if someone comes back for a redo i'm crossing my fingers i have it in stock.

If you want to stay with Suntek and VL are out of stock try Bonwykes (01329)289621 they now stock Suntek and Sungard. You could also try Solargard (Bekaert), nice film but alittle pricey, they have a UK depot in Worcester (01905) 640400. Good luck, let us know how you get on

The Carbon is a nice looking film, have used it in the past but was put off a little when VL where supplying, thought they were too dear.
The light film for fronts is a bit of a bummer in carbon, VOSA accept 45% and most manufacturers do a 55% but in the carbon range its a 70% and looks too light.
The car looks the muts nuts, I thought the shadow 50 woulb maybe have been a better match to the carbon ? Looks great in the pic.

Bob First time we've used Carbon, liked the way it matched the matrix, shrank very well, the glue seamed aggressive. Usually we use Desert Smoke 65% on the fronts, but since the Aston was a bit special, decided to use 50% (naughty I know) so used Midnight 50% as that was all we had in stock. Matched well and the customer is very happy, which is what its all about. I think we may try the Carbon 70% just for front roll downs. Thinking about it I've got some Shadow 50% still in stock, maybe I should have tried it, who knows. Was the only car I've taken the door cards off in 3 years, there is about a 2" gap between the top of the panel and the rubbers, not fun taking off panels on a £185,000 motor

Naughty good evening nauhgty I always file my top edge , this gave me the extra points to win the contest I believe. at the back I've done 50/50 with the horizontal line placed up pretty high ( he got a smal roof spoiler so you have got to look out for returning heat ) tops with powder , and the below with soap and the stretch-shrink metod.( to catch up the extra fingers you create with pulling the line so high) Colin told me you are going to the next tint oof as well, does this mean Vegas or next year ?

I would like to go to the sema show in vegas but it depends on how business is.
I will make an effort to go to Belgium next year - it's a place I would like to go to. Do you have a website for the place you work?
Another question, when tinting cars do you pull panels or leave them on? I file windows when I pull panels but micro edge when leaving them on. In the tint-off - where the panels in place and the rub rail in place as well? On the Golfs I normally just pull the rub rail out and tint them.
I don't like the idea of tinting the top half of the window and leaving it to dry and heating the $|-|17 out of it, file it and then tint the lower half - I flush a lot but worry about contamination in the are where the film is exposed to the air.
Out of interest what file do you use?
I welcome your thoughts on this.

Naughty I hope the bizz goes well then, I have an old one (pretty krappy webside ), but waiting for the new one to go online , just finishing the final touch . with my last result there is going to be a small change and whe are still waiting for the pictures from bekaerd. we are also waiting for the new marketing tools to come out from solar gard. I d like to come out when the packedge is complete. ( old One WWW.GLASFILM.BE ) The new One isn't going to be flashy as well, We go for the business look . ( I'll show you our vans as well) I never remove panels exept the fiat Ullysee (sliding doors , a real pain in the ass) and yes, you could be diskwalified for removing something. I use a long flat card/squeezi to make room and then just slide the film behind it. Ones you' ve got the hang of it ,it could safe you some time and money. ( and less breaking stuff) I don' t remove the liner completely , its stays on at the lower half .after its filed pull it off while flushing it well. I couldn't do it the way you do it but have seen some great jobs performed using this technique . I don't believe in the perfect universal technique , you just have to find the right technique for the right car . i've teached my partner how to tint and now we are about 5 years ferder he is using difirent tools and technique s then I am . you've just got to find out what fits you best. ps I dont have a name for it , its flat , soft, and small an often renew it ( if its not sharp enough its rips up your film) regards kurt
