Heavy duty film handler modifications

7 years ago I build my own film handler. Thought it was time to fix some negatives that bothered me over the years. Did 2 mayor changes... 1. Built a device out of an empty 3" core and it's tops. A guide is screwed onto this core, which holds the vertical blade. I cut the core a bit so a 60" film can fit almost exactly into the width of the core and its' tops. With this device, the vertical cutting is pretty much perfect, since it can slide to the left and right, without worrying about the film alignement on the core. 2. Changed the mounting and holding method. Instead of the conventional aluminum core, I added a special base to hold the film. This way, the film can be put up without ever the filmhandler leaving its position. Putting up some 80lbs is not an easy task (15mil film + handler), this way the mounting of the film is quite easy...

QUOTE i have got some ideas rolling around in my head to will eliminate those big bulky film handlers ..one i know no one has done before...and im sure as hell not going to post on here when or if i decide to make one. Just be sure it can cut 15mil film precicely... So you are going to keep it a secret until you have patented and mass produced it or are you just going to use it for yourself I have had other ideas, for example to cut the film right out of the box thus elimitating the filmhandler all together, BUT, after a few trials I didn't want to end up with a broken back at the end of the day...

QUOTE That's pretty sweet, looks heavy as a mofo though. Do you take that on job sites? It's made out of aluminum, so it's not really heavy, the 15mil roll is much heavier. Of course we take that to the site, that pic was take on saturday while installing some 350sqft, it was the first time using it with the modifications. The vertical cuts were really dead on...

I still love mine I bought off of eBay from some guy who bought it awhile back but never ended up using it. Its very lightweight (25# the most) and cuts up to 72" rolls with to attatchable verticle cutting blade devises and a roll counter to boot. Best 100 bucks I ever spent.

If you can buy one...go for it! It really comes in handy when your using larger rolls. I was under the assumption the company went out of business.

I've been trying to get a filmhandler but they are on backorder for quite a while now.

Come on tintgod help the members out and spread the word.... Whatever happened to love thy neighbor....for better oor for worse.....through thick and thin....As far as the name on it...the company went out of business...I called the number on the handler and did a google search and came up with nuttin .....
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
