Full Version: Roll back remedy

I could care less about a medal, but I figured I would share this with you people since I still come on from time to time, and pick up some knowledge.

This works great for roll back at the top of a window, and esp well on a Camaro. When the film rolls back on you all you need to do is spray a little bit of alcohol, and it will lay right down with just one swipe of your hard card, and saty down.

Works very well on the camaro, because you have a huge roll back on that top edge, and it is very easy to ge some contami or small air pockets under the film using heat, to get it to lay down for you. Since the alcohol is a liguid, it lays down like film naturaly should, and stays there because the alcohol dries the glue almost on contact with the glass!

The trick to this though is to do it fairly quickly! Because the alcohol will milk up, and kind of remove the glue if not done fast enough. So basicly make sure you are ready to tack it as soon as you spray, hit it with a card, and your done.

What do you think the long term effects of exposing the adhesive to rubbing alcohol will be?

It will be fine as long as you do it quickly like I said. Have your hard card in your hand hit it with a fine mist, and then push right out.

everything pierce said and has described is tru..I've done this for yrs without failing adhesive..I do it on some edges of bg's on mazda sports and toyota matrix's on the top of the glass where you shrink close to the spoiler thumb.gif

The only time I have ever had with the film coming off the glass on Camaros is if I cut it too big and there is too much film on the black area. It dont like to stick to the black. I cut it EXACTLY at the black area with the film on the outside, which will make the film pattern about an eighth of an inch or less bigger on the inside. This, too, can be a pain, cuz if yer not careful in the first couple of squegee passes, the film can shift leaving a light gap. I've done it so much that it aint a prob now, but the first few, AAARRRGGGHH! But it DONT peel/rool back anymore!!
The alcohol thing sounds good, tho. Hit it with the squegee immediately, and there should be no prob with long term effects. This gets my vote!! thumb.gif thumb.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
