A DONK of a different color

This one is a little more sedate than the wild green/yellow/orange seats. But still a bit on the wild side.

This is another big-rimmed car that we had in last spring/summer for the interior. A 1985 Monte SS. He got really really ancy and had to get it out rolling, so it left with some additional work to be done. Finally came back a few weeks ago for the rest. I've done the seats, carpet, doors, console, package tray and extra headrests. It's now in to have the dash done, rear side sail panels, redo the damaged console, and trunk. It's going to a show in Springfield in early August. The Buick we did got Best Interior last year at that show. I'm hoping to make it two for two.

I"m also replacing the tube for the air shocks (the shop that did those routed it right up next to the exhaust and burned it through). And I had to position and fasten down the trunk speaker box because it was bouncing around (actually smacked the sidewall and put a large protrusion in the paint). This shop also took out the rear seat and didn't bother to reinstall, and the owner's dad was ticked at me. He thought I hadn't bothered to put the car together. That's just NOT how we do it.

That turned out great i was wondering about that car.

Looks cool, I'm not real hip on the SS, I would've embroided those instead.
But the design of the seats is really cool. thumb.gif

nice work man, im not a big fan of the step rail to get in and the exhast pipe, are the gold in color?

The step and pipes are chrome. That's just a reflection in the shop. I'm finishing up the trunk tonight. I don't get it. Low Rider shows all the molded trunk areas, fit and finish. The boxes and surrounds look tight. But what I get in my shop is a big clunky square box and I'm supposed to make it pretty. Geesh. Where's the professionalism?

The one the came in this car wasn't even fastened down. It had bounced around enough it boinked the rear quarter. All it took was two braces fastened to the back, and voila, it's secure.

Just noticed.... Is that a cat on the roof???? Flaugh.gif

In Illinois, there is a marked lack of gravity. The cat's job is to hold down the cars while I work on them. She does a very good job of it. Haven't lost one yet.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
