Another "New" use for S&S scraps......
Key West
Jul 18 2007, 02:48 PM
I have been saving the 6" to 8" strips off my film handler. I store them in loose rolls. Whenever I do a commercial job, I will put a protective strip of 4, 6, 8, or whatever mil I have on hand just at the push bar of the doors to help keep the film from scratching. I generally give them away, but one could easily sell this protection for 25 or 30 extra dollars per door. Keys, rings watches etc. play hell on doors right in this area. If you do a store where they have carts, or dollys coming in, you can put an approx 12" to 24" strip at the bottom also. You make money, custy sees it as cheaper than replacing the film!

Another use for Clear-Plex is doing the outside of doors to keep them from scratching from rings/etc.
Of course, if no one hurts the tint then no one will pay you to replace it later!

Been doing that for 20 years. Also do the bottom 10 inches. But I always get paid for it.

on residential you can also sell the customer on S&S for the back door if they have a dog that jumps on the glass. My dog scratches the hell out of the back door on the outside wanting to get in and I put clear 4 mil on there and just replace it when it gets bad.

Yeah, I did all the windows in this ladies sunroom with a 2 1\2 ft strip of 4 mil 'cuz she had a little Cocker that loved to try and get at squirrels. THere are all kinds of uses for "Scrap" S&S film. To my way of thinking there really isn't MUCH that is scrap. It's all just unused film that needs an application.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
