I just recieved 2 Altima 2dr coupes and the rear glass seems to have the same curves as the 96' Eclipse. A little tough to shrink for me. Anyone else doing these? Any problems? dunno.gif
tintman237
gravy all day, they are like a 2 door cavalier, but shorter dunno.gif I have no problems with em beer.gif

P.S. wet shrink em you'll have no issues trust.gif

Even with all the dots?
tintman237
even with all the dots, its reversed matrix, lays alot better than say the old sentras did (last years body style) thumb.gif

I have done about 4-5 of the new Altimas and it was a cakewalk I was able to just white scub the matrix and it stuck fairly good. Just needed a little touch up.

Who wet shrinks anymore I thought the SoapMeth was like the only way?? dunno.gif
cool dude
Tinted a Nissan Altima Coupe 2008 .... Wasn't hard at all ...shrink a little on the door, dry shrink the back, clean dot matrix with steel wool and the film layed down smoothly ..... used Global HP thumb.gif

Just did one today. Used the soap method and didn't have any problems. Tried to steelwool the dots but ended up glueing. thumb.gif No heat was necessary on the doors or the quarters.

I would say it probably depends on how good the film you use shrinks. I did one today and had to slow down a bit on the edges of the back window to shrink it properly. I use the soap method and it worked well but this was my first 2dr altima so I just slowed down a bit. Even after I layed the film in the back window I still had a few fingers that I had to heat out. Maybe its just me but I definately prefer the four door.

I have to do one of these this week.. Do you have to take off the door panels? Also, what kind of steelwool do you use?

It depends on your method. I dont pull door panels.
I use the copper chore boys and 3M non scratch pads.

Easy, one screw behind door handel. Pull back on top of panel with window down. Pull gasket out. Quick and Easy.

Back window is a lil hard, but can be done.
Monique
I find you don't need to pull panels on these. And the back window requires vinyl on the matrix dots, but it also wants to finger on the sides, so make sure you get every single finger pushed down and shrunk on the outside. Also, make your cut very close as the interior trim is right next to the glass. Not hard, but the 4 door is easier.

Just did one yesterday. The BG wasn't that bad but not easy . Since it was my first coupe I took my time shrinking and held the gun further away and got it done. Still had small finger on the side. I finished up the rest of the car and went back and they laid down easy with a hard card. BTW the 3rd brakelight comes out like the others, push towards the rear and lift.

I Did my mom in laws 08 altima a little while back. I used 800 grit wet sandpaper on the matrix! OMG! Works GREAT!
The BG is deffinately an upper intermediate level.

The only problem I have with little coupes like that is, I'm 6'4" tall and Im not as flexible as I used to be LOL.
Very Sexy lookin ride though.

I'm not as tall as you but I had to fold the seats and lay down to tint it just like the G35 beer.gif

I ususally vinyl the dots on most cars and on the Altima coupe my vinyl always dries uneven. I want to try and steel wool the dots but what grade steel wool should I get and what are the concerns I have heard in the past about dots rusting.

Same here. I had one where the vinyl dried with streaks in it. Went back to the drawing board. I don't know the grit, but I got this sandpaper from the dealer parts department. It was a red 3M, probably a medium grit. Used that on the matrix then wiped off and whoa! The towel was BLACK. Tinted and vinyl'd as normal. Twas perfect. It's now sitting on the showroom floor with the Z cars wheels and a 1.5" Eibach lowering kit. Looks SWEET in all it's Darth Vader glory!

Is the 09 the same window style ?

Dotted areas can rust,it is important to push out as much solution as possible. If possible heat with any source of heat(gun ,torch, drying lamps, sun). If you use steel wool 0000 super fine works good without scratching the glass.Make sure your steel wool has not been wet before because it will rust and then you can posssibly scratch the glass. If you use a coarser grade steel wool you will probably put fine scratches in the glass that may be noticeable when the sun hits the b/g at the right angle.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
