my boy got one and we cant get the the window crank off
More than likely what you need to do is release the U shaped clip that is behind the crank.
You can do this by prying between the handle and the panel to gain access to the clip and use a pick to pop it loose. Another way to get it off is to take a rag and wedge it inbetween the crank and panel and see saw the rag back and forth and it will grab the clip and pop it loose. Also you can go down to autozone or the like and get tool that is made for taking door panel clips off. It will work to pop the u shaped clip off also. If you dont see that it may have a hidden cover on the handle itself. see if you can find that and there may be a srerew hidden behind the hidden panel. more than likelt its going to be the first scenario i talked about.
i have a crank remover tool i just cant get it off drivn me nuts
it might have a pop off cover on the front with a nut behind that, if you can't see the clip
if it has a clip I use a door panel tool and a pick
Be careful not to scratch the panel! I've done it, the panel is made with a plastic that scratches very easily. Even your fingernail can scratch it. Just speaking out of experience.
It could one where the whole crank is a cover for a smaller crank underneath, those one's always mess me up
QUOTE (exotic window tint @ Aug 15 2007, 12:31 AM) [*]534291[/*] my boy got one and we cant get the the window crank off It has a clip, but is extremely hard to find and get off. I had one last week and it took me 10 mins on one door to get it off. Use a rag as MDog said. It works better than the clip remover. Good luck
A hook-ended pick tool works well for removing those clips, I think.
thanks guys
i agree with the rag technique
my boss taught me how to tnt and saw mw with the rag and said wtf? i said it works faster than your tool (he is an ex panel beater and used his tool al the time) i ended up with a carton of beer
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
