Full Version: Easiest way to cut Rear Window '07 F250 King Ranch?
What is the easiest way to cut the rear window on the 2007 F250 King Ranch? The back window is the type that the glass goes all the way to the HUGE rubber seal. NO ROOM FOR ERROR! I did the best I could and still had a tiny bit of light gap and the customer flipped! Any Help!
take it out
Oh yeah, I forgot to say it is the sliding back glass. How would you take it out? Or where can I go to learn how to?
Is it a 3 piece slider or a 4 piece? Is it electric
It is a 3 piece and is electric.
on them first i tell custy that there might be a bit of a gap around his window and when his eyes get big i assure him that it will be uniform and look presentable. then i let him know why. [because of the hard edges.] then i have piece a bit big to lay and push water out all the window but only go about an inch away from edge. now take your nt red dot and bring blade to first click. notice that there isn't even enough blade there to even cut your finger? good then thats right...
okay now take that much blade and trim you window. this will take a bit of practice and make sure that your blade is really sharp [important] now with any luck you won't have a light gap but like i sad this takes practice so if you do have a light gap then just finish it like you would and then clean it heavy with alcahol and then get it really warm do the same to other side. then do your center. just gives more time for drying and now for the big secret... yup thats my secret. i still keep a couple of them just in case but you practice this trimming method and you'll be like wow i'm the s**t umm what was we talking about again....
some thing that I have been doing lately on trucks like that is, I use moleskin around the edge. I have the stuff that is cut into 1/4 inch strips and I just lay around the edge where I get that gap. It works great for me...mabey TOTW
hmmm?
paint pen?
You can trim the hard rubber plastic crap. I just did one and it turned out fine no gaps. its only that one section of the glass that needs it anyhow. The outer corner from top to bottom.
I like to use a red dot on those for the smallest light gap possible
cut it on the outside, trim the inside rubber CARFULLY, and install. ive never had an issue with the hard rubber
Did one yesterday, heat the inside hard plastic thing that is tight against the window ALITTLE, then trim it. It worked well for me, took my time and trimmed cleanly, and it came out with NO light gap. I do not like the film opeque pen, it looks like SHIZZ if you ask me.
Why the hell does Ford have to continue with these stupid back windows? I always just carefully trimmed out some of that hard gasket...Always works really well for me, cut it on the inside..and whatever gap if any it left paint pen it... ;)

WORKING ON 2007 F-250 X-CAB WITH 3 PICE POWER WINDOW I AM NEW BUT THIS ONE IS HARDER THEN MOST REAR WINDOW'S ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT THANK YOU ROCCO FROM KEY WEST FL VROCCOB1@AOL.COM
if the custy dont want it trimmed use small black pinstripe tape to cover the small light gap
i usually over cut it, and trim on the inside after its stuck. works ever time.

You really dont get any light gap that way. trimming the plastic is doable.
I found the easiest way for me was to heat up a wide putty knife with high setting on my heat gun and create a small tuck under the incapsulation on those sliders no gaps and comes out perfect every time. i think tint general has a similar technique.

spray paint and duct tape works for me.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
