I have a choice I can do a home show in october and target mostly res and com or i can do a tv ad and run it on cable . The tv ad will target a wider varity of people including auto but its going to cost more the show will cost a good bit less I think im rolling the dice either way . What do you think?

I think, first off welcome.gif to the board

2ndly, home shows are a great souce of flat glass business, I've never done a tv commercial, but do know some people here in town that have, and had good success with them. But for my money, I would do a home show, and be prepared to talk your butt off for the weekend, make sure you have pleanty of litiature, and lots of business cards

3rdly, Are you really from Baltimore? If so, Go Ravens evilgrin.gif evilgrin.gif their going all the way this year beer.gif beer.gif

yea I would spend yer money on the homeshow first and see how that goes. like 237 said you will do alot of talking and you are going to be asked all kinds of questions so be prepared. Such as " will film kill my plants or what will the effect be on them". all kinds of questions.

Thanx for the welcome and yes I am in baltimore the thing is i have 2 auto shops to run with 2 guys to keep busy so thats extra weight on my shoulders .

thumb.gif I can understand that, so the 2 other guys only do auto, or do they do flat as well dunno.gif
If they only do auto, thats fine, you can still sell alot of auto jobs @ the homeshow, print up some cupons, XX% off an automotive tint when we tint XX sq' of windows in your home, something like that.
mabye even just print some up, and put it with your litature that you hand out, stop in with this cupon for X off your auto install just for visiting us @ the home show this weekend expires in 30 days.............................

Get creative with it, your imagination is your only limitation. beer.gif

If you arent out beating the streets, oct. is pretty good time to pull in some business for the coming months ,as stated before though give an expiration for any specials you run to put a fire under undecideds beer.gif

TV sucks. Unless you have a LOT of money to keep it running, don't bother.

Especially if you aren't in a year round hot climate like Florida or Arizona. The only success stories I've heard were in those areas. They spent $$$ and made $$$$$. If you spend $ you will make $0.

My recommendation is to decide if you are trying to promote flat glass or auto and go from there. If you are trying to grow flat glass, then home shows are a good bet. In October, you won't do as well as in the spring, but you'll probably break even and meet someone who will make the entire experience worth more than the $ payback.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
