Ok , it sounds a bit brutal but the only way to avoid scratches in your tint after the car gets contamination on those evil door rubbers (gaskets) besides felting, is to chop off the entire bottom guide strip. Especially the ones that have the hard plastic guide, just chop it....
If only people knew what we have to do hey!
Are you tucking the gaskets or pulling them.....if you tuck em ...pull em up befor the car leaves he shop. If you pull em there should be no problem.
No need to felt the new beems....
Just did a 07 bmw 325i and pulled the panels and didn't see any need to felt or chop.
The 3's don't scratch, it's just the 1's.

Does a 2008 BMW 335xi coupe need felt?

dam felt tuckers
3's, 5's, and 7's all come to US with sufficient felt not to cause an issue. We don't see the cheap 1's
Some of the new 2006/7/8 BMW's DO need felt.... but only on the rear doors.....
![]() The top half of each sweep is felted..but the lower half (the part you can't see without pulling the sweep) needs it... But again.. on the front doors both sweeps have felt...
Not on the one I did...
The bottom sweep on all doors was plastic on the one I recently did. And, I cut the bottom one off rather than add felt because to me adding felt is a last resort option after having a problem with a car I felted. I bought myself a new 335d and I can assure you, if you do nothing, it will scratch. Going to talk to a dealer I've tinted a few of these cars for and see how they want to handle it. Looks like I will have a few redo's.

just did a 2007 328i yesterday, felt on all the sweeps, just figured I would add more to the confusion. So now from personal experience, only 2009s seem to not have felt on the lower sweep. I have yet to see scratching on anything but 2009's. I will keep my eyes open for other years.
Ive seen it on random ones. And getting more calls from the dealership on car I didnt do that are scratching. Seems BMW threw us a curve on this one. Thanks Germans.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
