After the film has dried....3 to 5 minutes. I push the film up horizontally..side to side. Seems to work out and look great every time.

What I do is heat the bottom or last line of the dot matrix. This will stop the film from hanging below the matrix. This is a very important step. If I dont do this I get a line of air and looks like a crese.

Do you heat it and then pull the film back?
Yes. Apply heat to the bottom row or line of the matrix....then let the film hang and dry.
Cool. I've only had minimal success with sanding, and glue is way too messy for me.
No glue. Sanding might cause rust....This way is the deal, try it.
I never had luck when I tried it to a Cavalier way back when..I'll give it another shot
yea....gotta be good.....and with mustangs....it can be tricky.....
Im either stupid or tired but Im not sure what you are doing. Can you explain it to me as if I were a 5th grader....
I think you are saying that you install the BG with the exception of just below the matrix. You let the film hang on the top section and heat the glass after letting the hanging film dry.
Once the glass is heated you push the film straight up without any slip agent? I like this new game: Guess what the tip of the week is.
Install. Heat along bottom of matrix. Peel back. Let dry. Lay film back down on matrix. Did I win? Got it. Just use the heat to keep the film from coming any lower

Right on!!!TZ!Hang dry..The only way!
Was it just me or did it look like the stang didn't really stick? Kinda looked lighter in the center, like the mstangs often do.
I have tried many different tricks myself, but usually just sanding, or dry dropping. I have had NO luck with glue. I have done vynil with some success. I have had many dots stick perfectly, i have also had many not stick. I think a good shrink has something to do with it. I also think that proper prepping has something to do with it. I think that heat has something to do with it. I think that not to much soap in my solution has something to do with it. Hell i even think a bit of luck has something to do with it. I have tried your method to an extent. but i have never been able to get the film to lay back down nicely with no water of any kind on it. I guess that is where the squegeeing it out horizontal comes in. Nevet though of that, good tip i will give it a try. QUOTE (GeneralTint @ Sep 26 2007, 04:15 PM) [*]548569[/*] I think a good shrink has something to do with it. Your right on with that....... Mustangs are the worst but they still turn out nice. I never lay the film vertically only horizontally ...side to side and follow the matrix.
Vinal works perfectly for me on every car exept the new accord and civic coupes, and is very fast and easy to apply. On hot days the vinal will stick good on the hondas and look perfect, but when they come back in 4 days to get checked out the vinal looks a little hazy and uneven. Anyone figured out a trick to make the vinal stay good on the accord and civic?
This is a great tip. I love it. Not to many people use it but it works great.
Only the best tinters let it hang...............
hi
only thing i dont get is how do you avoid contamination if film is hanging in air?? cant wait to try this tip, roll on the next e46 coupe!!
I'm in Zeus, if this works tomorrow you got my vote

You'll have a hard time seeing contamination in the matrix area anyway. I've tried hanging dry with about 50/50 success, been using matrix majic from 44tools lately and i like it, it seems to be better than the glue stick
wait... so u apply the dot matix portion without a slip agent?? that means i have to be very careful not to scratch it??
you might want to wrap your hard card with a towel....or use a hard card with felt.............
How long do you let it hang, I had an Acura yesterday, and tried it to no avail, I did my install, put some heat along the bottom, and pulled the film back to the bottom of the dots. I used a ppf card in a paper towel to later lay the top, but only let the film hang for about 10 mins. Should I have waited longer?
maybe. I dont like any moisture on the glass or film...and read the matrix ....I dont trap any air....and I try my best not to limp wrist it..............
Takes some time to perfect this type of custom install....dont give up. This is a great tip!!! I,ve used this technique for years with great results!!!!
