Price per car for contractors
Hi peeps, Ive been a contracting for a couple of years now, based "in house" at dealerships mainly tinting new cars. I really want to put my prices up per car (currently charging $80 - $90+gst (AU) and working for a prestige dealership. I want to charge $100 -110+. I know this is a fair price for the quality of work we are putting out, BTW the dealer supplies the tint these prices are for labour only. Heres the thing most contractors I know doing similar are getting between $50 and $70 which in my opinion was good money 10 years ago! When the dealer is charging $500 - 800 per car for my work I think the price raise is justified...... What are you charging per car??

jj, have you been at the same price per install since you've been at this dealership. If so I think you probably deserve a raise. Have you talked to the person you made the agreement with per car about increasing the price a little good luck

Good luck getting more than 80-90 a car. That is already at the upper end of the scale over here. If your tinting new cars all day and have no overheads in terms of film and rent, then I don't see the issue. Let me know if your sick of taking home 2G a week and we'll swap.

Not going back to retail, NO WAY! Your right though my furry friend no overheads and 2k p/w is good. Got the increase, not as much as I hoped but im happy with the result (for now)

Be careful of the "just another installer" syndrome. Exploitation is the word digger. Devil

Don't give them a reason to look elsewhere because there are hundreds of guys waiting to take your seat. Good job on the raise

damb thats good money i make 35% of a job but split it with 4 other tinters then theres 2 preppers that take 4% so 31% split 5 ways of a average 225.00x16-25 cars a day not bad money when its busy but when its slow you can go broke in a couple weeks no big deal if id save some cash for the slower days but hey im a window tinter spending it faster than i make it
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
