It has been fun and have met some great people, I am well known on 7 or so BMW fourms. I specialize in BMW uphosltery kits. Here are a few of my kits installed by customers and some specialitly leather work. Thoughts and comments welcome, when I started I just bought a machine and just started sewing. I am very detailed about all the patterns I make and am always looking to learn tips of the trade.
I am getting ready to buy a saddle machine for doing heavy 415 thread, any thoughts or suggestions. I am looking at the Artisan Toro 3000, I sew with an Artisan now.

Do you use a double needle machine for the french stitches???

I have 2 Consew 226 machines and am thinking about getting a serger...

I'm not farmiliar with the Artisen's so I'm not much help in that area...

Where are you located???

Thanks for the compliments, no I use a single stitch machine and am very carefull with my French seam lines. I think I have a knack for it. I am located in S. Atlanta. I sew kits in my basement and send them out.

You definately have the knack.... Beamers are PITA anyways and to turn out work like that takes a ton of skill...... beer.gif beer.gif

Thanks guys that is why I started I had few older ones I did, then I had other friends with bimmers and just kept making them. I have new site going up with 100+ pics and new gallery as well. I have been asked to do some pretty authentic seating and the older bimmers used the heavy 415 + thread for top stitch. I think I am set on the Toro 3000 as it will do 207 up. Here is one mine in full automotive grade micro/perf centers.

ps is there an edit button for posts?

Where are you getting your hides??? dunno.gif
The perf. suede looks Xspinsif....
seamsperfect
That is synthetic automotive grade suede or Microsuede a less expensive version of Alcantara. Alcantara is so nice to work with.

Here is a close up of it in the Dove gray of the seats above. It feels like a couch when you are done with it.

Is it like Street Suede?

Kinda thin, woven white backing??

Street Suede likes to bunch up, if you ain't careful...
It looks nice, that stuff you used in the photo looks thicker.....

Do you use much real leather in your kits??

What do you charge for a full kit??

Sorry so many questions...... I'm eternally curious.... dunno.gif
seamsperfect
No worries it is thicker about like Alcantara. Street suede is very thin compared to this. Cost on my kits vary. $1,500.00 front and rear for the top one using the exotic bmw cloth. The micro kits front and rear are $800.00. Front and rear vinyl like this one is $600 front and rear. Same guy installed the dove gray e36 did the black ones below. The bottom one was installed by a first time installer. I make my kits so anyone can fit them.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
