In the 1980s, a mathematics student at the University of Cambridge did something astounding. He created a software program called FrameMaker that revolutionized desktop publishing for large, complex documents that became a favorite of technical writers all over the world. In this fascinating lesson, you'll learn how FrameMaker gained popularity, was the foundation for a highly successful company, and then almost died due to marketing mistakes. Now considered the gold standard of desktop publishing for technical writers, FrameMaker carries a mystique all its own. In this lesson, you'll take a whirlwind tour of some of FrameMaker's features and gain hands-on experience with it. By the end of this lesson, you'll understand why FrameMaker looks different than many Windows-based applications, know how to set up your FrameMaker workspace and open new documents, and learn that behind the mystique and complexity, FrameMaker is an application that you really can master.

It's hard to take the PC to the toilet, where most reading happens. orngbiggrin.gif

Two books that I got a lot from when starting (and I still refer to on occasion) are Don Taylor's General Auto Upholstery book, and Taylor and Ron Mangus Custom Auto Upholstery book. Sort of a two-part set. Good nuts and bolts info and a few tips and tricks. The custom upholstery book has good visuals.

Thanks guys I will check into them. Do you know of any other auto upholstery forums? All my BMW and Golf fourms have hundereds of active members that we offer opinions and ideas on. Or is this a niche market?

I chat in here a lot:

http://www.upholster.com/

In the Discussion Board section. It's a combination of auto/marine/furniture upholsterers. A lot of professionals griping about the business, and some amateurs and one-timers pop on to ask questions. Roger Starkey, the upholsterer whose interior was featured in the October and November issues of Street Rodder (building and covering) chats there frequently. Several of the people in there either know or have worked for Mangus and Chavers, etc.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
