Just reading the am reception thread and made me remember, had the same problem on a 2006 Kia Amanti, Had to remove and replace the rear window, buuutt.. when I pulled the film off all the defrosters came off with it krazy.gif .
This only happened once, so whern I have to do a re & re on a rear window I tell the custy I'm not responsible for damage do to the drefrosters coming off with the film evilgrin.gif

hmmmmmmm.gif Has anyone else run into this mess?
TINTZEUS

I've never had defrosters come off with the film, hmmmmmmm.gif can you elaborate more, do you mean they completly came off the glass, or you could see in the film where it was over the defrosters, and there was lines on the film once removed dunno.gif
darkdan
Some Llumar ATR CH took about 50% of each line off of 240 SX that I stripped. Made a nice black and orange pattern.

What's weird is I bagged it, then steamed it off, and it left behind no glue, yet took the lines with it.

Completely off, so much that I noticed it on the film I removed. Usually you can see the outline or trace of the defrosters but this time IT WAS the defrosters Flaugh.gif It was that notcable. evilgrin.gif

Fbigeyes.gif WOW, that's a new one, I've never seen that, unless I'm taking a 6" scraper to it evilgrin.gif

Only happened once, like I always say there are no 2 windows exactly the same. evilgrin.gif

i've had defrosters come off in spots here and there from film removal. the older the car the more likely it'll happen. a new car losing defrosters means it must be a kia. spit.gif

it happened to me a month or so ago on an 80s corvette. i warned the owner prior to removing the film though. it lost atleast 75% of the defrosters from the removal.
Marco
Had an 80's Corvette this summer, it came from Florida nice work but the film was distorted right at eye level, it had a few brokens lines, not too bad but a 2000 Accord lost all it's lines, broken but not peeled off, more like cracks and chips in the lines dunno.gif

I personally owned a '92 maxima several years ago and I re-did the tint on it after I'd owned it a few years and the film pulled the lines of in pretty big sections.

Older Hondas do it 50% of the time in my experience.
Matthew
my business partner and best friend was taking the tint off of a chevy cavilier and every single line peeled off the defrost on the tint very strange only heard of it happening once and guess twice now ha

That happened to me on a brand new 04 Sonata. hyundai replaced the glass underwarranty and i duck.gif
I think the culprit is that kooky hankook glasss from korea lol2.gif

Back when Saturn got taken over by GM, the first couple of years the de-froster lines would come right off with the film. I stripped and re-tinted a couple of the Sedans (the ones we all know and love) by bagging/sweating and the lines came off the glass just as pretty as you please. dunno.gif At first, I thought it was a fluke, but after the second one.................. hmmmmmmm.gif hmmmmmmm.gif

Ever since then, I never guarantee that the de-froster will work. I tell people that it's been years since I've lost one, but the fact is it can happen. icon_confused.gif

wasn't Saturn ALWAYS owned by GM?????

Maybe it should have been tinted with slp(Korean film) then there would hwve been no problem!! rollin.gif rollin.gif rollin.gif Korean film for a Korean car Flaugh.gif

Had it happen on a 240sx as well. bagged it and came off clean but with the lines. old tint for sure, it must penetrate the defrosters and bond the glue into it, cause it didnt even take much effort to get the film off.
claysdad
ive stripped lulu off a escape back glass and it took the lines off.
tintman237
hmmmmmmm.gif after reading all these responses, I guess I just don't strip enough film rollin.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
