yes everyone of you are right, they are frameless rollups. but the seal at the bottom of the window (top of panel) are so tight i find it hard to get the tint down in there. figured it would be easier for me to just pop the panel. my comp. just cuts those seals out. but that is not an option for me. maybe im just overly picky, i dont know.
I have taken the panels off before, 4 screws if I remember rightly. Don't bother, very easy to do, quick tip, flick the door latch across a couple of clicks, this will raise the glass to the 'closed door position'. If you lightly push outwards on the top edge of the glass it releases the pressure on the window gasket. Makes it alot easier to get the film in.
Have fun
thanks tint technology. i knew about the door latch making the window roll up. maybe that will help to push out on the window a bit. it being a bmw, i figure the glass would be pretty expensive so i have never pushed on it. but will give it a try. thanks again
You could try using a small pic tool. I have a dentists hook because of it fine tip. Just pull the gasket back enough to slip the film in.
thanks autoez22
no problem. Get a car in ther, maybe your own and see what you can do. I think you be suprised to find a lot of cars arnt too bad leaving the panals on and seals in place.
you can also tuck the gaskets fairly easy. After your done just heat the bottom of the glass and pull the gaskets up.

thats why i appreciate this site. someone is always willing to help
Hey magictinter I use to use the pick to get my hard card into a tight seal. What I do now is check before I install if the seal is too tight to get the card in
then I roll the window all the way down and use a push stick and a strip of two inch tape and tape the seal back to the panel. I usually do this on the left and right side. this makes it easier for me to tuck the film. Its all about time because I dont like using alot of slip. i think if you use alot of slip and shift too much more chance of get contamination.
I'll help...her goes.
Remove the red reflector piece on the trailing edge of the door panel, it's high up, there is a torque screw there. Unclip the plastic shiny trim around the door release. There are then 2 bigger torques screws in the door, in the grab handle from memory. Then you can pop the top pf the panel back , the rub rail also connects to the edge of the door, remove the 2 push in bungs from here and then pull out the seal. Make sure you trick the latch, tint the window, file the edges and then insert the rub rail, DO NOT drop the window down with the rub rail removed as the film will get scratched. This as for all models except the very latest ones just released...they have changed the panels on these. ND
thanks all
The new 2007-08 models are a non event as far as trim pulling, I have seen them off for wrapping purposes and they are a shocker! Just flick the latch on the new ones...etc..etc
