Full Version: How to get Window tint?
SO i'm just starting out and have done a few cars so far with tint that I got from a mobile tinter who sold me some....I have a few friends that want it done and was hoping from word of mouth I will eventually get more and more. How do I go about getting tint through the manufacturer? Do I have to have a business?
Your local phone book should give you the numbers for local film distributors;or if there is a specific film you want to use go to that manufacturers website for help.
To get good film you have to be a business.
But considering you've only done "a few cars" you might want to stick with something cheap. This is because if it's cheap you can throw away a lot of film and not cry as you try to improve your quality of work.
Call 3M

Then be given the same number you've been calling. Then tell her you don't want that number you want another one. After that you'll call another number for a different department. Inform her you don't want to call the number you called 14 times. Once again, call ANOTHER number. Finally, that person says, "Oh, well, the person you were trying to call would have just told you to call these people anyways." And then BAM! Now you finally have your distribution company. Of course, 3M will only sell to you (after the 20th call.....true story) if you are a business. (darkdan @ Nov 28 2007, 07:29 PM) [*]566651[/*] You mean call 3M 14 times over 2 weeks. (CajunTinter @ Nov 28 2007, 09:17 PM) [*]566695[/*] Proving the theory that most people in MN are just plain wierd... Sheeeesh!!!! I'm glad to see there are a few of us in here.
When I got started in 1985 I had to buy a minimum order of $500 just to buy it wich would be about $800-$1000 today, once I had accumulated $2000 in purchases I started getting better prices this was not a bay idea I was just happy to buy it since I did not have a tax permit or business yet
here is some ideas idea for manufactures.
1)don't sell if they are not a business you can get a dba and tax permit for under $100 in texas anway . 2)) if you choose to sell to them anyway have a minimum order just to be able to buy proffessional film this would help weed out some future hacks. 3)sell it to them at a higher price when they become a business or start buying some volume then you know they are serious and you can start giving them wholesale prices. 4) do not sell limo to anyone that in not a business or been buying film from you for a good while.
I think I will will start a new thread.
