08 Gallardo Superleggera

The back windows of the car are made of polycarbonate. Im being told that there is no way to tint polycarbonate plastic windows. The tinting shop advised me that if the tint/film cracks due to the window material stretching or shrinking from temperature changes which could occur in 6mo's a year or so on. At that point there only fix would obviously be to remove and replace the film. Removing the film they say is no problem, but removing the adhesive from the polycarbonate seems to be the problem, they are saying there is no way to remove without scratching the polycarbonate.

Anyone got any ideas or differnt materials that can be used to accomadate a vehicle with polycarbonate rear glass windows?????

Is there such a thing, that would be the easiest. I told the tinter to just use the same stuff that he used when he blacked out the tail lights on one of my other cars. The windows are small, you can barely see out of them anyway. He didnt like that idea since the material isnt very easy to see thru, and again he is worried about removal of the adhesive. He belives that after removal of the adhesive the polycarbonate is going to look milky or discolored.

Someone has to have done a polycarbonate window before.

yes there is such a thing. I see it all the time on cars and minivans. People put it on to block sun from children. I think they sell it at wallmart and auto part stores

The rear windows are small enough that it might just work, as long as it looks clean it will work.

It will work, it does fade over time but its cheap. Have your tinter cut a nice piece that fits well, spray a lil water an boom its on an can look ok.

This is about the ONLY situation it would work well and be the most suitable choice.

thin down some black paint to desired tint. tape off and use an air brush. perfect every time.

It sounds like they want something that could be removed in the future....
