I have been doing home shows at the convention center for several years. We always get a great return on our investment and it starts the season off with a bang. There are three or four other shops that attend the show, and everyone's booth looks pretty much the same. This show has 20 - 30, 000 visitors that usually have money to burn. How do you suggest we make our booth really jump out at people so they remember you after visiting 1500 various style booths. All the tint shops usually have a nice back drop with before and after photos, some pictures in an album of previous work, film samples, literature, and a heat lamp display. I want to stand out from these guys......

Remember, this is a high-end show catering to upscale homes.....chicks in bikinis handing out brochures is not a good suggestion thumb.gif

I would have (depending on room aval.) instead of a heat lamp box style I'm azzuming, have a few home windows where people could stand in front of them and see the heat diference with and without diff. films (similar to what they have @ Home Depot's, at least in Phx) instead of on the hand hot box.

But the one thing I've found is your personality/presentation of what your selling, is what they tend to remember the most dunno.gif

That seems to be the problem....everyone is using their manufacturer's stuff. 3M, Vista, Solar Gard, all have black felt back drops with the same type tri-fold brochures. I thought about staging a living room with a line down the middle of the booth. All the furniture and flooring would be faded on the side with no film, and the other side would like nice and clean with the film on the glass. The only thing I have come up with so far!

I have been saying that for years, quit promoting a film brand and promote yourself. Unless you are employed by the manufacturer, why promote that name instead of yours?

I quit using manufacturer's trade show booths many years ago. I found a used booth on ebay and finished it out myself. Each year I change things but the film brand is only in a small corner. Everything else is about us, photos, certificates, awards, etc.

I do give out bright colored yard sticks with our logo.

One thing I would suggest is write up a paper on different ways to reduce energy costs. Just provide basic stuff, energy saving lighting, caulking, insulation. Pass that out with your liturature

If you have the money, it's worth the investment to have your own booth made. I used the maufacturer's booths for many years and there always seem to be an issue with them. Most of the time it was with the graphics being old and worn. This past year, I had a booth made and I also purchased a floor that looks like hardwood, but it's soft to walk on. It's a great look and the response has been great. I currently do 6 shows a year and it's a great way to introduce people to window film.

You need a mic. and make a presentation out of it. Get a couple of window and show demonstrations of how quickly the process takes to do it, than show customers what the difference is. If you keep the custy interested your sales should sky rocket! Blow up the signs, make sure your company colors are every where, flooring,even try bringing in a vehicle so you can get their vehicles too, lots of fliers and biz cards!

I always thought this was a good way to help inform the general public about the bennefits of window film. I am signed up for next years show only cuz I missed registration this year.

Hope it works out well for you! We stopped doing home shows after 22 years because the quality buyers were not coming in and 40,000 tire kickers and mall walkers don't buy chit. It turned into cheap sunglasses and trick mops promoters. Then add in the cost of a 5 day show with salaries,electric, tables, parking, meals, downtown traffic and set up -tear down even with our own nomadic display booth it cost us a ton of cash. Many of our high end buyers are internet or designer referals.

I almost went into the local show, but the economy this year has prevented it. I do think its funny that there are a few manufacturers going too, I wonder who gets those leads?
