Full Version: ATR 20 vs ATF 18

Thanks for the great answers on the last question and I have 1 more. I went to my local Llumar dealer and they had samples of all of their products. May I add, way too many to choose from. Thanks for steering me away from the Formula one.While there I liked the ATR 20 CH SR HPR and the ATR 18 ST SR HPR. First off are they good films to begin with and what do all those letters mean? Again the car sits outside all year long in the sun. No room in the garage. It appears # wise the 18 rejects more soar energy 62 vs. 48? Can I read that as it rejects more heat than the ATR 20. And has a more reflective surface 12% vs 8%. Heres where I am getting the numbers from and if the tints are so darn close why make 2 similar products. PLease tell me if I am wrong. I am just a consumer trying to understand or shed some light on tint.

I couldnt even find the ATR 18 ST on their chart. Is this an old outdated chart?

ATR= "Auto Tint Reflective"

CH= "Charcoal"

HPR= "High Performance Resin"

There is no ATR 18 I think you have it mixed up with Llumar Stealth 18.

You would be well served with Formula One but the advice was to stay away from the entry level Classic Series. We recommend the Premier, Ultimate, or Pinnacle Series.

So is the Stealth still used or have installers gone mostly with the ATR CH? I just found a thread in here about the Stealth peeling and flaking after a few years. I dont have a problem with the Formula One but what I have read in here is why pay for name why Llumar has quailty products as well. I used to the upsell. I work for Mobil so we do it all day long. SO if I want a 20% Ill have to go with the Premier? I just want a quality film, no $99 tint jobs as you guys say.

Is the ATR CH a quality film that will last 5 Years?

Stealth is a lot more reflective than ATR that is why ATR is a big seller for us. F1 Pinnacle is worth the $$$ if you like the look, it's not just an upsell there are a few differences. Llumar has it's upsell, if you like to call it that, as well. It is called Axess (ATX). Either of these films are quality you can't go wrong, they have warranties to cover the product. I would worry more about who is installing them.

There is an ATR 15 dunno.gif

ATR Stealth and ATR Charcoal are different.

You want the charcoal because it lasts longer.

I want the color gray or a blackish color with some reflective. I have SolarGard HP Charcoal 35 on one car. Which product would be similar to that? I dont car for the green tint color. I do appreciate all your guys help. Does the Stelath still peel off the car like Mdog talks about? I keep reading its bad. Whats the average OEM tint-metered- on a clear window just out of curosity?

When you say "LOOK" what type of look is it? they dont have a great web site when it comes to pictures for the different shades or tints. Are they a greenish tone or black or gray?

Look= Reflective or non-Reflective, Greenish (ATR is Greenish -imo), Earthtone, Grey, Ect...
scooter996
SO if I want a slight reflective and a black gray color would that put me in the Formula One Brand? Dont care for the greenish tint.

The performance is similar in terms of heat and UV rejection so the main difference is the look. The Ultimate 18 will look more like the "factory" privacy glass on the rear of an SUV and the Premier 20 looks more mirrored. In my state (Georgia) we can't legally put this dark of a film on car (apparently we are one of the very few, if not only GA tinting businesses on this board that tints in compliance with the law) but it is legal here for the rear part only of a van, SUV or truck and since most of these customers want it to look like factory privacy glass, we use the Ultimate 18 and almost never use the Premier 20 since it's more reflective in appearance. So between these 2 choices, it boils down to the look you prefer.
scooter996
Thank you so much for your response. So basically ones shiny-mirrored and the other is more black "oem" colored. Since your an installer you wouldnt happen to have any pics of them installed would you?
HarveyD
You've got the idea as far as the look. Sorry, no pics. We just never have an opportunity to use the Premier 20. You won't go wrong with either one. It's just whatever look suits you but the more reflective look tends to be less popular than the look of the Ultimate Series for our shop.
scooter996
This is the last question. I am sure your much more fimilar with other tint brands than myself since your in the industry. Which one would be similar to the SOLAR GUARD HP CHARCOAL? Then I am done asking questions

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
