If you don't know the top and side seal that stick 2 inches out from the glass pull right out then it will be the biggest pita car you've ever done. But if you realize the big azz seals pull right out then it's a very easy car beer.gif

Do I have to worry about the matrix on the top of the b/g? Will the tint stick, or do I need vinyl?

I have one of these to do tomorrow.. Quick question - does the XM radio antenna wire just unplug fron the BG or do I have to work around it?

Not sure what XM antenna you are thinking is on the BG, but the only thing I can think of would be that the older Impala's would have the ONstar antennas on the rear glass.....

XM should not be on the glass unless it is an aftermarket and badly placed!
GDK Electronics
Maybe it isn't the XM antenna then, but there is a wire on the BG just off center toward the passenger side, up high.

I'm surprised a company with 'electronics' in it's name would be un-able to identify a sat. radio ant. or factory onstar ant., etc.... ? dunno.gif

I don't have the car here yet, I'm just going by what the customer has told me.

Correct me if I am wrong.Hasn't GM had antenna's on the BG of 4 door cars for radio reception for like 10 years? dumbass.gif

Sorry guys. Apparently a friend of mine thought it would be funny to make me look like a fool because I left the message board on screen last night.

Didn't think I'd have to log out with friends around. LOL

GM has had radio antennas IN the back glass as lines like the defroster! The external antennas have been for ONSTAR!! dumbass.gif

Actually, if you want to get technical, maddtinter would be more accurate. Those antenna are mounted ONto the glass, not INto.

I have heard of tinters, when removing film, pulling the antenna OFF of the b/g....not OUT of the b/g. Also, he didnt say anything about external antennas OR OnStar. twocents.gif thumb.gif
ISTHATFACTORY?
Just pop it off and tuck it under the head liner so its out of the way. Dont tuck it too far though, its a biotch to get if you do beer.gif

glad this got to be a discussion about RADIO antennas as the original was about XM radio....

some tinters on here have way too much time on their hands and too much anger!.....get over yourselves....
maddtinter
If you understood that this was on a 2008 impala you first should know that the XM antenna as well as Onstar is on the roof. Why would you consider the old XM/Onstar on the outside? poking_someone_in_the_eye.gif

Sorry but this is where I came into this thread yesterday.....I knew there was no XM radio antenna on the back glass and could only think that they were thinking of the older GM with the "thru glass" cell phone antenna that was for the ONstar system....

I honestly don't pay attention to any antenna unless it is in my way. So as for where an XM antenna actually is I would have to look to see.

SO.... dunno.gif hmmmmmmm.gif thumb.gif and of course poking_someone_in_the_eye.gif beer.gif beer.gif have a couple drinks on me....

some old dude here....53 years old....has his P@NTIES in a wad....

Not that it matters that much, but here is my PM to Pitstop... Yeah this is keyboard bad ass striking!

"So, did I do something to you personally? If so I have forgotten all about it. If you don't like what I post then don't read it. If you don't like the style of shrinking that I got TOTW for then don't try it. If you want a personal battle then you are in it alone!

The guy posted a quote of me and the whole "dumbass" thing....I simply had posted that the only antenna that you would remove was the onstar antenna and not a radio antenna....

anyway, if you have a personal vendetta on me then have fun.....otherwise STFU."

yes, we're serious. Just did a 09 last weekend. Just roll the window down, grab part of it and pull. It comes out in 2 seconds, and goes back in in 4. Makes it so much easier. BG is probably ~30", not quite sure. a 36 or 40 will cover it though.
Dj Kustoms
ya thats what i figured.i actually take alot of the trim out because i get way better cuts.and theres no lines when the window rolls down.just a pita is the 1/4 windows on the impala.its such a small window..

and i was asking about the roll size because i didnt know if it could work with a 24 inch roll of not

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
