I am doing an est in a couple weeks... new home development. My plan was to hang door hangers while I'm there. (It appears to be a small area)

But now I'm thinking maybe sending everyone a flyer in the mail saying that I will be there on this date to give ests in your area... call if you would like to setup an appointment.

Has anyone tried this??

It depends on what day of the week your giving the estimate.
If it is a weekday,,most people work.Wont be home to have an estimate.
Id do the door knob deal. Then if you get the job make sure you set up your yard sign (if customer allows it).
I got 3 jobs from one yard sign in a development in Egg Harbor Twnshp, didnt hurt that the first job was the dude in charge of the home owners assoc.,but hey ,all the calls mentioned the yard sign.
I left the sign up for about ten days.good luck beer.gif

I have found that most people are turned off by door hangers (At least in my neck of the woods). And in alot of subdivisions, especially gated communitys, you can't do it. The Flyer thing could work tho.....

The yard sign thing is a GREAT tool. Really works well in gated communitys. I give a custy the option of 10% off if I can put a yard sign out for 2 weeks! thumb.gif

I agree, I don't like the door hanger thing, that means that someone has been up on my porch while I wasn't there.
Then there are the idiots that open the screendoor to hang it on the inside, they wonder why the alarm goes off... hmmmmmmm.gif

I just sent off the flyers. Hopefully I'll get a call or two.

My plan is to use a combo of both mailed brochures and door hangers, so I'll see which gives the better response. I've actually done ok with door hangers... and all they really take is time to hang them. Last summer I took my friends kid with me and we knocked out a couple areas in an afternoon.

So after the job was complete you left a sign in their yard for ten days?

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
