VIPER 160XV / Grand Prix OEM Alarm ARM

I just had a Viper 160XV installed on my 2002 Grand Prix for Remote Start and Keyless Door/Trunk Option. When I lock doors using Viper FOB, the OEM alarm does not ARM itself like it did with the OEM FOB. Still works OK with OEM FOB.

I don't want to carry two FOB's around which is why I had the door/trunk option wired in. Did installer miss a wire for ARMing the Alarm with Keyless Door Lock?

Thanks

Yes, I don't have the wiring specs for a Gran Prix, but I do know there is a wire to give a pulse to, to arm/disarm the factory alarm system.
I'm sure someone here will have the specs for a G.P. beer.gif

the weird part is the VIPER FOB will disarm the ALARM when unlocking doors (if i already ARM with OEM FOB). It just won't ARM when locking with VIPER FOB

Wonder if there are two wires an ARM & DISARM

ya, there could be, how long are you waiting before seeing if the factory alarm is armed, it might be delayed because of the aftermarket system

I thought that too, waited for 30s or so and no luck. I paid to have put in, so I'll call or go back on MON (they're closed tomorrow). Normally would have done myself, but too cold and don't have the time.

Also they did not hook up option to turn on rear defroster or horn for lock/unlock. Normally don't use horn, but it can be programmed off. Would like for panic mode which is option. Only get flashing parking lights cause no horn hook up. rear defrost can be programmed on/off too.

They finished right at closing so I just picked up and didn't try out until home. Now it will just bug me until MON.

there is no arm wire just a disarm wire for that car its orange black for disarm.....to test it roll down drivers window ...then lock the car arm the viper wait 1 min then stick your hand in window and open the door it should set both off thumb.gif

Just lock the doors with the door open, then shut the door if you want the factory alarm to arm. As for the defroster, that is something that NEVER gets hooked up unless the customer requests it, or the sales/installer recommend it. THEN, it should cost you more money. Same with trunk release or any other OPTION that keyless will do.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
