I have a viper 790xv alarm installed in a 5speed with autostart added. it worked for a while and now it just starts for a few seconds and then cuts right off... i tried messing with the RPM adjuster and it didnt change it... may have made it worse. I also tried to do the TACH learn and it would not light up at all after i held the valet button for a long time. when I did the Shutdown diagnostics it blank 3 times which says it means it is low or no RPM... what else could i do to get this problem fixed. any help would be appreciated.
thanks, Jared

i would but it is not legal to have autostart on a 5speed in NC so no one will touch it for that reason... it has to be a side job for someone to work with it. the guy i had install it prob a year and a half ago has changed his #... and i dont really want to just show up at his house.. he may not live there anymore... lol

what kind of car is it? are you certain it isnt aproblem with the security in the key(if this car has one)
if not then
well then there are a couple of things that you can do.
a. learn to program the module yourself they most likely put it tachless(obviously) and it needs a little more crank time.
b. the one i suggest find if they have a purple/white wire running out to under the hood, if they do not you need to find where they left it under the dash, then run it out to under the hood, hook it up to a tach source( non-common fuel injector will work) then program the tach. start vehicle press and hole valet button til the led lights up
and you should be in good shape

1 i have a 94 dodge stealth... so it doesnt have the key chip thing....
i will check on that wire u speak of tomorrow after work hopefully that will fix it! I dont know how i would hook it up to the non-common fuel injector... not quite sure what that is either...??

ok, all fuel injectors have two wires.
one of the wires is always the same. you have to go to the wire that is different.
the other tach in this car is a little more difficult so i would stick with that and give it a try.
if you can pull the brain of the alarm down and see it, there will be a 5 pin plug that has gray, brown, black/white, blue/white, and the purple/white wire that you are looking for.
good luck

ok well I have yet to do the purple/white wire thing.... but i did find out tonight that if i hit autostart and then put my key in the ignition and turn it to the start/on postition it stays cranked and does not cut off. Does that change the issue at all or would u still say it could be the "tach" problem??
thanks, Jared
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
