I was going to use the insurance forum but no ones been there in ages...
How much insurance/what kind should i have? only doing retail auto's for now. I figure enough to cover me if my stuff gets stolen; or if i scratch someones paint/break a window etc...
It really depends on how much coverage. One thing you should really do when speaking to your salesman is clarify you want "garage keepers" in your insurance package. Garage keepers insurance is the portion of general liability insurance that covers if you/employees damage a car. Without it, you just pay for the items in your building if they get damage from fire/theft. Additionally, garage keepers protects the vehicles if you store them overnight in your bay, if your building is broken into and the vehicle is stolen.
If you have a small shop, with limited amount of tools and inventory, with a $500k liability (protection against consumers slipping in your shop) and $60k of garage keepers should be roughly $130/month with $500 deductible. Check insurance with IWFA, they do run discounts for members and it is a competitive price. Good luck
