Full Version: Grenade and ballistic tests
In cooperation with NATO ISAF and VAT we did some tests. Of course they were quite different from famous lab tests, but as our soldiesr going to Afganistan soon, we don't think that lab rats advices and test reports will be helpfull and usefull. Here I will post some pictures and later I will make video.

As a result of tests we saw that regular car glass with films installed from both sides will help soldiers to survivae in case near explosion of hand grenade and other explosives.....Also we did some ballistic tests. Results was not so nice - but we were waiting it. As M16 which we used and also GLOCK are strong weapons. Also for our films

How thick is the installed film? How was the film anchored (batten or wet seal, or other?) Exterior/interior application. .both?
Is there a specific standard there? Type of glass? Thickness? . .just curious if the NATO standard is different than DoD standards here in USA? Thx
That's not an M16, that's an H&K G3. It fires a 7.62 (.308 win) instead of the 5.56 like an M16.
Don't sell yourself short, it got shot by a bigger bullet! QUOTE (darkdan @ Feb 7 2008, 06:26 AM) [*]590530[/*] That's not an M16, that's an H&K G3. Here U can see moment whe ONE bullet from GLOCK were stopped - this moment is pictured ![]() ![]() But as we did grenade tests - which we passed, we decide also to shoot. Thx There were 2 films on each glass. 8 mil - 6 mm regular (not tempered) glass - 21 mil film 8 mil - 6 mm regular (not tempered) glass - 16 mil film It was anchired with piece of metall - I will try to find pictured, deepnes of anching around one inch. We tested using our ideas and methods. The situation is that standarts are invented by smart heads in labs. These guys will go to Afganistan shortly. We make tests with organization XX Century Wars Veterans Against Terror (VAT) - mainly there are veterans of previous afgan war. As latvian HUMMERS were exploded in Iraq some month ago, we look how can work glass if grenade will explode near, and if it can help to avoid any problems in case instaled on a car. That was our aim. Same tests was done at Camp Marmal military base by German bundeswer forces.....No any standarts "fallen ballZ" Visit My Website
whats a latvian HUMMER look like ?
So what's the ASTM # / test procedure for that one?
The new england franchisee for Ace?? claims that their film will stop arms fire with film only on one side of the glass, bullsh!t if you ask me....
so that glass thickness was only 1/4 inch glass?? (6mm) Really??
was it laminated 1/4 inch... Almo
