I tried popping out a dent, but there's an area that got raised a bit like a shallow bump. What tool and technique do you use to flatten/smooth out the surface?

sounds like the dent has been a little over worked, or was sharp in that area. I use my hammer, tapper tool and good lighting.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
