Dudes.............Make sure of the "Born on" date. DC995 is worthless when date is expired. Sometimes even when it's close!!!
its expired..i checked yesterday....6 tubes......
I love working with the stuff, and have gotten it down to doing the whole frame at once. origianaly was taught to do horizontals one day and verticals the next. How long does it typically last
copied directlly from the dow data sheet. Obviously of course a big part of it is how long it's been sitting on the dist. shelf
USABLE LIFE AND STORAGE When stored at or below 30ºC (86ºF) in the original unopened containers, this product has a usable life of 18 months from the date of manufacture heres the link http://www1.dowcorning.com/DataFiles/090007c8800d0da7.pdf QUOTE (H.G. @ Feb 15 2008, 08:55 PM) [*]593590[/*] I love working with the stuff, and have gotten it down to doing the whole frame at once. origianaly was taught to do horizontals one day and verticals the next. Can't imagine any professional not using sausages. Some of the stuff just doesn't make any sense on here.
I hate wetglazing, I do alot of it but man it sucks. I also use the sausages and the big gun, it would take forever with the normal caulk guns and tubes. and get alot of blue tape.

No doubt. Powerless wetglazing is like trying to sink screws by hand.
You call that a caulk gun? Now this is a caulk gun!
It's a gas generator, powering an air compressor, for like a pressure pot style caulk gun!!!! Over the years I've met a more than a few glazers and caulkers on job sites and most them use regular caulk guns and they all say the same thing, "Powered ones don't provide enough control." Screw control, my arm gets tired!
Ive never used the power one. I will have to check that out, my trigger gets stuck sometimes and its annoying as hell.
Try it and you won't go back.
I bet, my hands cramp up after a full day of it, kinda like when holding the olfa o so delicatly and then yer hand just locks up and u want to cry
I need to find someone that I can buy these things one tube or two tubes at a time.
suggestions? Almo Shatter Safe
I have about 24 or so sausages of black 995 I want to get rid of...not sure what the shipping would be to u????
Nahhh.. I would need a source where I can simply direct my customers to so that they can purchase themselves..
anyone have a good alternative for installation for a building compound other than 995? Almo QUOTE (Cuttingedge @ Oct 30 2008, 02:08 PM) [*]650713[/*] I have about 24 or so sausages of black 995 I want to get rid of...not sure what the shipping would be to u????
Almo, are you still selling direct to the end user?? I would think by now you would have learned the end user cannot install this themselves. If memory suits me, you have asked for installers in areas you have sent film to the consumer where they have created a disaster to go out and fix it for them. This should be a lesson to not sell directly to the consumer, especially security films.
Hey CustomTinting.........
Of the thousands of customers that have received our films over the years, only 2 (TWO)... (one more than one...) 2 people have messed up the application on one section of glass and have done the rest just fine. They have also purchased a replacement to fix what they screwed up on,,and yes... they received a discounted price. The average person only purchases about 100 square feet and the ones that purchase a case or two request installers at generally a minimum of 5.50 per square feet for install only. I also advise customers that if they need 8 mil or higher applied, it should be applied by a trained professional. SO.... wtf do you mean... "This should be a lesson to not sell directly to the consumer, especially security films." ?? Tell you what CustomTinting..... you try and convince a potential customer to have an installer come out and install 50 square feet for next to nothing. All of our customers know that they can have an installer come out and apply for them for a minimum roll out fee of 250.00 Are you going to drive for an hour or two somewhere to apply 40 -50 square feet of film for 250.00 ? I doubt it. If a customer comes to you and hands you 200 bucks for 50 square feet of film are you going to say to him... "no no... I can't take your money... I can only sell it to you if I apply it..... " I think not. WTF man? No disrespect intended but your attitude is exactly the kind of attitude that finds people standing alone on the platform as the wheels of success go rolling by you and say... "wtf happened?" Not saying that you are not a success and your business is not doing well, but don't you DARE chastise me about selling direct to a consumer. Ya never know when I might call you up and say.. Hey bud.... I have 2000 square feet of commercial ground floor annealed glass that needs to be done for 5.50 per square foot, and by the way.. they pay you directly, not me. A lesson to me???? I doubt that.... Almo PS.. not grumpy.. just that certain things hit me the wrong way.
About that born on date.....
The tubes will dry out because there is air (air causes solidification) in the tip and a little in the back end too, I have susage tubes way out of date that are just like the first day new. Remember the window film manufacturers say film has a shelf life of 2 years....... that 2 years must be from the time it arrives at your shelf and does not include the time it sits on the factory shelf. easy test, try and use it. if it squirts out, it works if it is all clogged up its bad. .
