2001 Eclipse Convertible

I recently tinted a 2001 eclipse convertible, this is the first convertible I have tinted. The driver has called me back and twice I have had to re-do the drivers side roll up due to peeling at the top. I used suntek HP and havent had any problems from this roll on any other car. I was wondering if it could be something to do with the convertible top and the seal around the window? I put a thin layer of vaseline on the seal the second time and it still peeled? The last time I made a more noticeable gap at the top of the window hoping that works...my fingers are crossed. But any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Don't put Vaseline on weatherstrips........ nono.gif

It is petroleum based and will dry them out in time...

Use dielectric grease or silicone paste........ Never use vaseline, you may as well rub motor oil on them.... gasp.gif

BTW a larger microedge may help the problem...... beer.gif

Retint, bake it on with some lamps, grease it up.

I had it happen on a vette once so I used AMSOIL's HD Metal Protector. It dries to a wax like finish instead of being moist or greasy. It solved it, needless to say he bought some too.

His peeled from the top even though when I tinted it he left the door open for a week to allow it to dry!!! (Wow, Vette owners.....)

I will usually spray silicone spray on gaskets like that, it drys clear and is not greasy! thumb.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
